Tina Rogers Obituary A celebration of Tina's life will take place at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2020 at RiverCrest Chapel and Event Center, Bixby. Tina's family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. also at RiverCrest. On July 13, 1959, in Clinton, Oklahoma, Tina Rogers was the third of seven children born to Harold and Imogene (Allen) Rogers. The Rogers family would make a move eastward to Okmulgee when Tina was in her youth. It would be in Okmulgee that she would receive her early education - later transferring to Morris, where she became a 1977 high school graduate. Beginning the next chapter of her life, as soon as possible, Tina married and began quite the adventure. It was upon marrying Steve Woolsey that Tina would be blessed with motherhood. This, when they welcomed the birth of their daughter, Susan. Although the marriage she was a part of did not survive, Tina didn’t let that slow her down! She once rented an apartment directly across from her ex-husband, Steve, just to aggravate him!Furthering her education at Northeastern State University, Tina desired to become a paralegal. Life seemed to deal a different hand to Tina as she would become no stranger to a courtroom; however, she ended up seeing it from a different vantage point. Tina’s free spirit would lead her all over the country. Through her travels, she made numerous connections and friends. She had a way about her where others saw the best in her. An infectious laugh and smile, Tina never met a stranger! She loved jokes – the more inappropriate, the better! Kind, sensitive, funny, caring, intelligent, and handy are words that describe Tina. She has also been likened to that of the Tasmanian Devil – here today and gone tomorrow while managing to leave a bit of a path behind. The fact of the matter is that Tina had good intentions and wanted to be helpful. The reality was it didn’t always work out that way. For instance, Tina once stopped to give someone less fortunate a handout. The individual was holding a sign that read, “My husband hits me.” Tina gave this lady some money and proceeded to drive-thru McDonald’s to get her something to eat. Upon her return, it appeared the lady was handing off the money to her “no good husband.” Tina decided to take matters into her own hands when she got out of the car and began to wrestle the lady, demanding she returns the money!A believer in holistic healing, Tina studied natural treatments and worked as a massage therapist. Convinced of her Native American heritage, Tina made herself out to be a Shaman and began making and selling spirit sticks only to find out she was Eastern European from a DNA testing kit. Being a mother and grandmother brought Tina so much joy. There was a season when Tina would watch her grandson, Brock, regularly. One of those most notable times would have Tina and Brock being removed from the St. Francis reflection pond, by security, after enjoying a nice swim. These cherished times certainly had their highs and lows, but there was no doubt she loved her grandson, and he knew that! When she had down time, Tina loved to listen to music and was rather obsessed with Holocaust movies and documentaries, as well as crime scene and investigative shows. Tina will be remembered for so many things, one of those as giving a pretty, darn good impression of John Wayne. Tina passed from this life on Thursday, June 30, 2020, in Arizona. She was 60. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law, Bruce LaVigne, and a niece, Misty. She is survived by her daughter, Susan VanZandt (Matt); grandson, Brock VanZandt; step-daughter, Christa Woolsey; siblings: sister, Theresa Whiteside; brother, Tracy Rogers (Judy); sister, Terri Lavigne; sister, Tami Exedine (James); sister, Tonette Fox (Brad); sister, Trixy Ford (Joey); She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
