Marshall Bullard Obituary A funeral ceremony honoring and remembering Marshall Ellsworth Bullard will be held 10 AM Saturday, June 4, 2022 at the Rivercrest Chapel in Bixby. Interment will follow in Bixby Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 PM Friday, also at Rivercrest. Marshall passed away early Tuesday morning, May 31, 2022 at his Broken Arrow residence. He was 74. Born March 23, 1948 in Jefferson County, Illinois, Marshall was the son of Floyd Red and Betty Jane (Roney) Bullard. An excellent student as well as an extraordinary athlete, Marshall was an all-round great kid. Marshall’s Sunday School attendance was perfect until the age of 17 although, his first girlfriend just may have interfered with that! Marshall excelled in high school football, track, and swimming for the Centralia Orphans. He would also earn his Black Belt in Karate. Marshall would graduate with the Class of 1966 from Centralia High School. Following high school, Marshall began studying Engineering at the University of Illinois. It was there he earned his Master’s degree in Ceramic Engineering. The Ford Glass Plant brought Marshall to the Tulsa area where he was employed for over 40 years. While working at Ford, Marshall’s co-worker (eventually known as Aunt Shar) introduced him to her sister, Rosie Simpson. It was clearly love at first sight! Their blind date at Ricardo’s Mexican restaurant will not soon be forgotten. The couple married just 8 weeks later April 29, 1978. Marshall loved boating and taking his family to Fort Gibson Lake. Many wonderful memories were made with his children tubing, teaching them to water ski, and dining at the Pizza Port on the way back to Tulsa. Marshall became heavily involved with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, eventually becoming the district commodore. COMO Bullard received forty-seven Coast Guard Meritorious and performance awards. He enjoyed teaching boating classes to new boat owners in addition to serving on the lake patrol. Marshall always took boating safety very seriously, once making the cover of Boating Magazine. Surviving family include his children, Chelsea Cox and husband, Michael of Bixby, Eli Bullard and wife, Jill of Killeen, Texas; his grandchildren, Brandon Bullard and Max Cox; and his sister, Carolyn Sorrows and husband, Grady of Du Quoin, Illinois.
