Lydia Johnson Obituary Lydia Lea Johnson passed away Thursday afternoon, August 12, 2021 in the presence of her loving family in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She was 89 years old. Born June 9, 1932 in Fort Smith, Arkansas, Lydia was the daughter of John and Cora (Creekmore) Barker. She played basketball competitively for the Mountainburg Dragons. Lydia graduated from Mountainburg High School with the Class of 1950. It was there she met the love of her life, Bob Wesley Johnson. The couple were married January 19, 1952 in Crawford County, Arkansas. They shared over 62 wonderful years together. Bob’s career in the airline industry brought the couple to Tulsa in 1966. This was quite convenient since Lydia love to travel, especially to Hawaii. Bob adored Lydia and worked hard to make all her dreams come true. Known to be a working woman, Lydia was employed by Amerada Hess Oil Company as their librarian. She also worked for Cessna Aircraft while living in Wichita. Lydia spent most of her retirement years spoiling her grandchildren. She also worked hard running the Little Canaan Land Daycare at their church. Bob and Lydia were devout Christians and longtime members of the Jenks Freewill Baptist Church. Lydia enjoyed photography, decorating wedding cakes, and sewing beautiful clothes for her children. It was so important that everybody matched while on vacation! Lydia will not soon be forgotten by a host of beloved family and friends to cherish her memory. Survivors include her five children, Beth Banks of Tulsa, Jan Bender of Sand Springs, John Johnson of Jenks, Leann Stephens of Stillwater, and Tammy Parsons of Tulsa; her grandchildren, Whitney Brooks, Victoria Secrest, Lindsay Barron, Cole Stephens, Arin Johnson, Zach Bender, Wyatt Nance, and Ethan Nance; 17 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; and her brother, Monroe Barker of Arkansas. Lydia was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; her grandson, Corey; as well as many other family members. A memorial ceremony honoring Lydia’s life will be held 2 PM Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at the Rivercrest Chapel in Bixby. Lydia will be laid to rest with her husband in the Bixby Cemetery.
