Leon Blackwell Obituary Charles "Leon" Blackwell, 78, retired Sinclair employee and retired plumber, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2020 in Tulsa. Services to honor and remember Leon will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Crossroads Fellowship, Bixby. Born April 2, 1941, near Hitchita, OK, to John and Ada Blackwell. Leon grew up in the Hitchita area with his 10 siblings. He became a graduate of Hitchita High School where he enjoyed playing basketball and baseball. Leon attended Oklahoma State University for one year, after high school, but was always an avid OU Sooner fan. Leon worked at the Okmulgee Refinery and Sinclair Refinery, in Tulsa, retiring in 2006. He was also a plumber, by trade, and received great joy out of being able to help his elderly customers solve some of their minor plumbing issues. He was also active in the leadership at several area churches. Upon retirement, Leon and Georgia enjoyed several years of traveling the country, in an RV, seeing the many sights from coast to coast. Leon had no favorite destination, there were just too many to choose from, but they enjoyed: hiking, sight-seeing, and searching the back country on hard to find dirt and gravel roads. These great adventures brought about many great memories. Following their travels, Leon and Georgia settled in Broken Arrow. Leon passed from this life on February 27, 2020 and was preceded in death by: is parents; an infant sister; sister, Mary Etta; brothers: Johnny, Jimmie, and Paul and a son, David. He is survived by: his wife, Georgia Blackwell of Broken Arrow; sister, Alice Goad of Sand Springs; sister, Anita Shepherd of Bakersfield, CA; brother, Richard Blackwell of Collinsville; sister, Sarah Blackwell of Tulsa; daughter, Gaye Ethridge and husband, Kirk of Konowa; Gwynn Blackwell of Morris; Robert Blackwell of Kiefer; Karen Hart of Bartlesville; Barbara Cordle of Bixby and Brenda Baker of Bixby; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, as well as, many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends who loved him dearly. Leon was well known for his jokes and pranks, his sense of humor, love of life and for his love of God. We may have lost a wonderful, caring, loving man, but heaven is rejoicing in their gain.
