Lavelle Atterberry Obituary Lavelle Atterberry passed away Monday, July 17, 2023, in Oklahoma City. She was 88 years old. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 PM Friday June 28 at Bixby-South Tulsa Funeral Service. A funeral ceremony honoring and remembering her will be held at 10 AM Saturday, July 29, 2023, at the Redeemer Covenant Church in Tulsa followed by a 2:30 PM Graveside service at Pawhuska City Cemetery. Born January 28, 1935, in Pawhuska, OK. Lavelle was the youngest of three daughters of V.C. and Myrtle Ruth Swinney Standifer. Lavelle grew up in Pawhuska. Her father was an entrepreneur, engaged in several Osage County businesses. Lavelle and her high school sweetheart, Murry Atterberry graduated together with the Class of 1953. Lavelle attended Oklahoma A&M College in Stillwater before returning to Pawhuska and marrying Murry on June 10, 1956. Family was the joy of her life and especially spending time with their children, Kyle, Kurt, and Kendra. A wonderful mother, Lavelle continually supported her children and eventually, her grandchildren in their many activities and athletic events. Murry's career as a landman in the petroleum industry led their family to Houston, Amarillo, Littleton (CO), Oklahoma City, and ultimately Tulsa. Lavelle and Murry remained staunch supporters of Oklahoma State athletics throughout their 60 years of marriage. While in Tulsa, Lavelle was a devoted member of Asbury, Faith United Methodist, and Redeemer Covenant Church. She served in leadership as secretary and treasurer and sang in the choir. Lavelle loved being around people. She was always a part of most any social activity involving her church family. Many great memories were made at the Atterberry lake house in Whitehorn Cove on Ft. Gibson Lake. Lavelle truly had the heart of a servant, and all phases of the medical field was her passion. Many times, she was ahead of the doctors in diagnosing ailments. As a volunteer, she devoted countless hours to the Laureate Clinic in Tulsa over her 25 years of volunteer work there. Lavelle wore the opportunity to serve as a badge of honor. She was an excellent cook, actively participated in a women's investment club, enjoyed bowling, golfing at Meadowbrook Country Club, playing Bridge, going on trips with her Mahjong gang and attending bible study. She leaves behind a host of family and friends to cherish her memory. Surviving family include her two sons, Kyle and wife, Candice of Lewisville, TX, Kurt and wife, Deborah of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Zac and wife, Nicole Atterberry, William Atterberry and fiancée Chloe Farrar, Miranda and husband, Ryan Quatkemeyer, Kale and wife, Joanna Atterberry, Bryce Benz, Drake Atterberry; and four great grandchildren, John Mason, Kira, Michael and Emily Rae. Lavelle was preceded in death by her parents, husband Murry, daughter Kendra, sisters Jeanelle and husband Lloyd Smith, and Mozelle and husband, Woody Maddox.
