Geraldine Lorraine Smith

Geraldine Lorraine "Geri" Smith, 86, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025, at her residence at Legend at Mingo Road. Born on August 18, 1939, in Austin, Minnesota, Geri was the beloved daughter of Harold and Margaret (Jones) Sovich. She graduated from Austin High School in 1957, where she developed her piano and typing skills. Geri was a devoted mother and wife who chose to stay home and raise her children, Bruce and Wendy. Her beautiful soprano voice and her talent playing the piano filled their home with popular songs and songs of faith, creating cherished memories that would last a lifetime. She and her first husband were dedicated parents who raised their children in the church, providing a strong foundation of faith and values. Professionally, Geri worked as a legal secretary for a law firm in the ONEOK building in downtown Tulsa, where her excellent typing skills, strong work ethic, and calm demeanor made her a valued employee. Geri was calm natured, kind-hearted, and pleasant to be around. She loved to laugh and be around others making everyone feel welcome in her presence. Her sweet disposition and slow-to anger nature reflected the important role her faith played in her life and resulted in many close friendships. Geri was an active member at Broadway Baptist Church in Sand Springs, Oklahoma for many years. She enjoyed an active and social lifestyle throughout her years. In her youth, she loved Girl Scouts, reading, and skating, and later in life, she was an enthusiastic supporter of her favorite teams-the Dallas Cowboys and all Oklahoma sports teams. She enjoyed attending sporting and musical events and was known for her love of dancing at the senior center in Mannford, where her social spirit truly shone. Geri is survived by her children: son Bruce Sprung and his wife Mary of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and daughter Wendy Robinson and her husband Don of San Antonio, Texas. She leaves behind three grandchildren: Philip Sprung of Tulsa, William Sprung and his wife Whitney of Broken Arrow, and Jessica Porter and her husband Robert of Annapolis, Maryland. She was also blessed with three great-grandchildren: Henrietta Elise Porter, Robert Calvin "R.C." Porter, and Mary Lucille Porter. Her sister Virginia Heimer and her husband Joe of Escondido, California also survive her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Margaret Sovich, and her three husbands. A memorial service to celebrate Geri's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 13, in the Rivercrest Chapel in Bixby, Oklahoma. A reception will follow in the Great Room, where family and friends are invited to share memories and celebrate the woman who touched many lives with her kindness, laughter, and faith.
