David Stevens Obituary A Celebration of Life honoring and remembering David Harry Stevens will be held 11 AM Friday, March 31, 2023 in the Rivercrest Chapel, 13329 S. Memorial Drive. A catered reception will follow the ceremony in the Great Room. Dave passed away March 22, 2023 in Orlando, Florida. He was 74 years old. Born December 31, 1948, during the infamous blizzard in American Falls, Idaho, Dave was the son of Maryvina Goldsmith Stevens and Harland Stevens. He graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1967 where he was the class valedictorian. Dave then packed up his car and headed to Laramie, Wyoming, where he attended Wyoming University. It was there he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology/Geophysics in 1971. During his sophomore year of college, while attending church, he met the love of his life, Kathy Jean Georgen. The couple were married August 20, 1970 during Dave's junior year. Following college, Dave and Kathy moved to Lafayette, LA where he started his career as a Geologist with Conoco Petroleum. He then made stops in Corpus Christi and Houston, TX, where they welcomed their daughters, Carrie Jan Stevens and Jennie Kathleen Stevens into their lives. Their next stop was Oklahoma City, where they met wonderful friends and had some amazing times on Warriner Circle cul-de-sac. Dave eventually accepted a position with Kaiser Francis Oil Company, which relocated the Stevens family to Tulsa. Dave would complete his career at Kaiser Francis, retiring in 2019. An ongoing debate remains within the family about whether an official retirement ever took place. Through the years, Dave loved a good spreadsheet, a podcast, and everything about his work. A great dining experience became quite routine in Dave's life. He was fond of fine wine and a good martini (Vesper) of course, Grey Goose up with a twist! Dave was also known to make an amazing Chocolate Martini, he was the greatest maker of popcorn, and was quite fond of a Smoked Old Fashioned. Whether on land, air, or the sea, Dave was a seasoned traveler. His favorite destinations included Las Vegas, Big Cedar, Disney World, Hawaii, Turks and Caicos, Cody, WY, Phoenix, AZ, and cruising around the world. He enjoyed watching movies with his love, Kathy - who even convinced him to watch the series Downtown Abbey. It would be an understatement to say that family was the pride and joy of Dave's life. He also enjoyed golfing, snow skiing, singing as member of the Tulsa Men's Barbershop Quartet, and being a model BIL in the PEO community. In recent years, Dave loved driving his new Porsche Boxter, and continually spoiling his grandchildren, as well as the ladies in his life with Starbucks. Surviving family include his wife, Kathy Stevens; daughters Carrie Stevens Kelly and her husband, Chris, and Jennie Stevens Larkin and her husband, Conner; his grandchildren Aidan Kelly, Abbey Kelly, and Gemma Larkin; sister, Beth Hopf, and his sister-in-law, Karen Ballinger.
