David Bowen Obituary David Alan Bowen, born on March 23, 1969, in Owensboro, Kentucky, to Donald Ray Yeckering and Linda Carol Cummings, left this world on February 1, 2024. Surrounded by the love of his family and friends, David's spirit departed peacefully, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever linger in our hearts. David's journey was marked by both triumph and loss. Preceded in death by his dad, Larry James Bowen; birth father, Donald Ray Yeckering, and nephew, Quenton James Starkey, David faced life's challenges with a courageous, loving and joyful spirit. David is survived by his loving mother, Linda Bowen, who provided unwavering support, advocacy and love throughout his life. He is also survived by his devoted sister, Cindi Rae Starkey, and her fiancé, Jim Thalacker; nephews, Peyton Starkey, Jonathan Starkey and his friend Lisa Mines and niece, Alise Starkey, were a source of joy and pride for him. His stepbrother, Scott Bowen, and aunts and uncles, Barbara Golden, Doris Klopp and friend Ross Unger, Terry Bowen and wife Kelly, Donna Winsett, Beverly Ward, Clarence Bowen and wife Gayle, Carol Yeckering, Larry and Margaret Bische and Betty Cummings along with numerous cousins, formed a strong network of love. From an early age, David was actively involved with and derived much joy from participation in numerous activities of the Special Olympics. Engaging in sports such as basketball, bocce, bowling, baseball, cross country skiing, and horseshoes, he exemplified the true spirit of competition and camaraderie and made many lifelong friends and was a blessing to many. A proud graduate of Tell City High School in Indiana, David achieved his high school certificate, marking a significant milestone in his life. His work experience included stints at several fast-food restaurants and work at Southern Indiana Rehabilitation Services in Indiana, where his dedication and positive attitude left a lasting impression. David's vibrant personality was a beacon that drew people toward him. He radiated happiness and joy wherever he went and never met a stranger, eager to give hugs to all. David's love for dancing and singing, especially to rock 'n' roll music, became synonymous with his exuberant spirit. His passion for storytelling reflected in the adventurous tales he wrote of heroes and heroines in numerous volumes. Known for his loving nature and warm embraces, David had a special place in his heart for blonde girls, who never failed to catch his attention. His love for life and the genuine connections he forged with others will be remembered and celebrated by the multitude of friends who were touched by his kindness.
