Charlotte Rogers Obituary Charlotte Rogers, 74, passed from this life on Monday, October 2, 2023 at her home, built lovingly by her husband, Dennis. Services to honor and remember Charlotte will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Riverview Baptist Church, Bixby. Interment will be in the Bixby Cemetery. Family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday evening 5pm - 7pm at the funeral home. Born September 2, 1949, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Charlotte was the daughter of John Clark and Wanda (Willis) Merceri. This large family would grow to include a total of thirteen children who would eventually settle in Tulsa. Tulsa is where young Charlotte was introduced to Dennis Rogers through mutual friends. Originally set up to double date with another young man, Charlotte would only agree - if her date could be Dennis! This was the beginning of a long love story that recently celebrated 58 years. As Dennis puts it, "We grew up together, AFTER we were married." Dennis being a seventeen-year-old youngster and Charlotte a mere fifteen years of age when the couple said, "I do." Managing her household was Charlotte's main labor of love as she and Dennis welcomed their children. Charlotte would later add another family to her daily routine as she helped with the Ken Selby family and residence tasks. Helping with the books of Dennis' successful painting company was also part of Charlotte's duties and eventually, she even found time for a career at American Airlines that she enjoyed and retired from. No matter her activities or career, Charlotte managed to attend any and all activities that her children and grandchildren were involved in. She was a wonderful and doting mother, grandmother, and wife who got what she asked for and gave plenty in return. Love was always felt at the Rogers' home. When she found extra time, Charlotte might be outside planting flowers, filling bird feeders, playing soccer with the Bixby Wonder Women or listening to music. In the late eighties, Charlotte belonged to a few bowling leagues and even made her way into the pages of Tulsa World showcasing her bowling skills. Later in life, she enjoyed weekend worship time with her family and favorite gospel or Christian music. She and her brother, Phillip, made a pastime learning about family ancestry - taking many trips, both within Oklahoma and to surrounding states, to research, learn, take photos, and record their finds. Of course, this information was shared with the entire family. Described as a woman with a big heart, Charlotte always wanted the best for and cared deeply for the people she knew and loved. She was that matriarch figure for her family taking in almost all of her siblings, at one time or another, to live with she and Dennis. There is no doubt, Charlotte was a woman who stood up for what was right and was not known for backing down from a fight or cause that she believed in. Her strength, love, and compassion will be sorely missed. Charlotte leaves to cherish her memory and further her legacy: her husband, Dennis; daughter, Christie Rogers; son, Wayne Rogers and wife, Penelope; daughter, Shelly Phillips and husband, Curtis and daughter, Amy Rogers; grandchildren: Jeremiah Haydock and wife, Valerie; Jessica Barnett and husband, Ryan; Joseph Haydock and wife, Meg; Jacob Haydock and wife, Bianca; Bailee McHaney and husband, Peter; Hannah Rogers, Nathan Rogers, Kolbi Phillips, Kaleb Phillips, Kennedy King and husband, Dakota and Mia Rogers; five great-grandchildren: Joon and Jona Haydock, Johanna Barnett, Emmet McHaney and Quinn Haydock with two more on the way and her siblings: Shirley Boggs, Linda Smith, Doug Clark, Ormand Merceri, Phillip Clark, Lorie Donegan, and Wendy Downey. She was preceded in death by: her parents: Wanda Merceri and John Clark and siblings: J.D. Clark, Mark Clark, Michael Clark, Debbie Munkirs, Matt Clark, and infant, Mary Frances.
