While Jody and Kara are now familiar faces at the funeral home, joining Jack and Carol Selby in 2017 and owning Bixby Funeral Service for the past two years, they are pleased to announce the addition of Northeastern Oklahoma native and business partner, Christopher Teel.
No stranger to funeral service, or to the Greater Tulsa Area, Christopher grew up in nearby Muskogee and would make Tulsa home, in 2004. This, following his completion of both a Bachelor of Science, in Funeral Service, and a Master’s in Business Administration.
Approximately 15 years ago, Chris would join one of the area’s largest funeral homes and ultimately lead an extremely successful preplanning initiative. Through his efforts, numerous area residents have made end of life plans that will ease financial and emotional burdens and provide comfort to family and friends on some of the hardest days of their lives. In addition, he is a seasoned funeral director having walked numerous families through the funeral process and having been a part of designing beautiful monuments that willforever give families a place to go and remember their loved ones.
Chris married Tulsa Native, Katie Hendricks, an interior designer with her own brand, Teel Spaces, and a licensed realtor with McGraw. Chris and Katie have two beautiful children, Sadie and Jackson and are proud to call this area home. For the past three years, Chris has been serving families in neighboring Rogers County following a short partnership with a different Tulsa firm.
Fast forward and it has now been nearly a decade that the Teel’s and Greene’s have known each other, and it seems that this opportunity was orchestrated by bigger hands.
This pairing will only strengthen the services available at Bixby Funeral Service. Jody, a Certified Celebrant, will continue to offer unique service options for families that may not want a traditional service. In addition, as a licensed funeral director, he will be available to meet with families and provide that same listening ear and ability to weave together a beautiful life story. Meanwhile,Kara will continue to offer her services as a funeral director, while also keeping the entire office under control as she stays one step ahead of Jody and Chris.
It was the Selby family who worked tirelessly to make Bixby Funeral Service the trusted and desired choice for funeral service that it is, and this endeavor would not be possible without Jack and Carol’s generosity and continued participation. Jody and Kara have counted it a privilege to have carried on this legacy, over the past two years. Now, the Teel’s join the Greene family and pledge that same effort moving forward – a partnership of strength, experience, and healing.
