Vicki Hewitt Obituary

Vicki Lynn (Sontag) Hewitt was born June 14, 1953 in Stillwater, OK to Paul Dee Sontag and Betty (Johnson) Sontag. Vicki’s dad, Paul, served in the Army Corp of Engineers which required family to move quite a bit. Vicki spent half of her childhood in the U.S and the other half overseas. As a young child, she liked ballet and listening to music.

The Sontag family was living in Mobile, AL where Vicki graduated from high school. Upon graduation, she moved to Miami, FL. She eventually moved to Tulsa where she welcomed the birth of daughter, Michelle. She later moved to Fairfax, VA and welcomed the birth of daughter, Amanda. There, she found employment with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency under the Carter Administration. Her daughters remember their mom being a goofball and funny. They would have dance parties, radio competitions, and sing in the car. She was known as the “cool mom” and supported all activities.

Wanting to be closer to family, Vicki, along with her daughters, moved to Wichita Falls, TX. She found employment with the American Red Cross as a phlebotomist and coordinator. She also worked as an EMT and volunteered on the fire department.

Wanting to be a blessing to others, Vicki volunteered as a host for those stationed at the Air Force base. It was Thanksgiving 1992 time when she hosted a dinner that a young man, Billy Hewitt, along with friends attended. The two quickly took a liking to one another which started his weekend visits. Vicki retired from American Red Cross after 11 years. The couple moved to Klamath Falls, OR where Billy was stationed and were married on July 24, 1993 in Marquam, OR. Vicki and Billy enjoyed attending concerts and going to the coast.

In 2006 Vicki retired from UNICELL. They moved from Oregon to Sand Springs, OK where they made their home. Vicki grew the family with chosen daughter Jenny in Tulsa.

Vicki enjoyed reading mystery books, sewing, crocheting and crafting. She loved being an Oma to her grandchildren and was the glue that kept the family together.

She passed away July 21, 2022 at her home surrounded by family. She was 69.

Those she leaves to cherish her memory are husband, Billy Hewitt; daughters, Michelle Harris, Amanda Magana and husband, Ruben, and Jenny Platt and husband, Kevin; sister, Paula Sontag; mother, Betty Conway; grandchildren, Cecilia, Lillie, Emory, Alex, Jessica, Desa, MacKenna, R.J., Raymond, Katerina, Elijah, Alana, Caden, Kelly, and Ryan; great grandchildren, Willow, and Aaliyah.
