Born November 21, 1936, in Wetumka, Oklahoma, Shirley was the daughter of George and Sarah (Edmonds) Cook. Raised in her birth community, Shirley attended Wetumka Schools where she met a classmate, and the love of her life, Kenneth Stringfellow. The two married at a young age, but it was certainly a long-lasting relationship. In fact, they reached a milestone of 65 years, together, before Kenneth's passing in 2018.
The young Stringfellow couple would make their home in Tulsa, later purchasing an acreage in the Liberty Mounds area. As time passed, and as their family grew to include grandchildren, many weekends were spent at 'the farm' as an extended family. Other family gatherings were enjoyed at their place on Grand Lake!
Described as outgoing, intelligent, and kind, Shirley never met a stranger! She was somehow able to make new friends everywhere she went. In fact, there are a lot of people who thought that she was their very best friend.
Friends and family - that was how Shirley enjoyed spending her time. She also loved traveling with them. As a result, Shirley and Kenneth were able to reach all 48 contiguous States in their motorhome. They also flew with their daughter, Victoria, to Alaska and even made a trip to Hawaii. The family also made a lot of memories camping through the years. Shirley was one who absolutely loved her Savior and church family too and played an active role in the churches she attended.
