Obituary

Sam passed away peacefully on May 27, 2022. He was 4 days before his 91st birthday.
Sam was born on May 31, 1931 in Rochester, New York to Philip and Mary (DeAngelo) Romeo.
He worked hard from an early age helping his father with their parking lot business the former Midtown Plaza.

He was raised in Rochester where he met his first love Mary DiFante. They were blessed with the birth of two sons, Philip and Mark. While in Rochester he owned and operated his vending company called Sunny Vending.

The opportunity arose for Sam to purchase “Turkey Town Restaurant” in Macedon. Mary and Sam moved their young family there. Many delicious turkey dinners were enjoyed by patrons who drove many miles. For turkeys and peacocks were raised on the premises. Many a child waited for the beautiful plumage of a peacock to appear. To this day, when many people will relate that celebrated weddings, anniversaries and many other occasions there.

Unfortunately, Mary passed away at the age of 42. Following her death Sam hosted two benefits to support the Oncology Department at Park Ave. Hospital. Shortly after their benefits Sam chose to close the Restaurant.

Sam married the second love of his life Dottie Rowe and they were married 26 years before passing in 2009. He and Dottie made many memories at their camp in Canandaigua. It was there that he enjoyed woodworking and building bird houses. Sam would build the bird houses and Dottie would paint them. Many of those bird houses now reside with children and grandchildren.

Sam was predeceased by both of his wives, his parents, his brother, Frank, daughter, Darlene Cole and son, Donald Rowe.

Surviving are his sons, Philip (Linda) and Mark (Deb); grandchildren, Christina Romeo, Philip (Sarah) Romeo, Renee (Brandon) Tillberg, Robin (Paul) Reichel, Karrie (Adam) Baucher, Kelly (Chris) Saylor, Amy Rowe and Adam Rowe; great grandchildren, Isabella, Christian, Landon, Logan, Kage, Malcolm, Katarina and Amanda and one great, great granddaughter, Alice and numerous nieces and nephews.

Following Sam’s wishes there will be a private celebration of his life. Anyone wishing to make donations in Sam’s memory may make them to Amedisys Hospice, 2856 E. Skelly Drive, Suite 100, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74105. Their kindness, support and love to the family was a true blessing.
