Ruby Daniels Obituary

Ruby Faye Thomas was born April 25, 1936 in Hiwasse, Arkansas to Burl John Perry Thomas and Nora Alice (Pruitt) Thomas. A large family, Ruby was one of eight children having four sisters and three brothers. Growing up on a chicken farm, she and her siblings had many responsibilities - Ruby's was to pick vegetables.

Upon high school graduation, a cousin, Joy Davis, convinced Ruby to move to Tulsa, Oklahoma. It was through Joy that she met Billy Daniels. Billy had just moved back home to Bixby after honorably serving his country in the US Navy. The couple married in 1956 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and they were able to celebrate 43 years of marriage before Billy's death in 1999. A wonderful wife, and the perfect fisherman’s wife, Ruby was known to clean and cook whatever Billy caught!

An amazing mother, Ruby had her hands full when she gave birth to triplets: Teresa, Tony, and Tim. It was six years later that she welcomed an additional son, Jerry. Her children shared that they had a very loving and hard-working mother. Teresa actually had the privilege of working alongside her mother. During some of that time, Ruby was battling cancer and lost her eyelashes. Because of this, she began wearing false lashes. At work one day, Ruby noticed she only had one lash on. She called for Teresa to help her look for the misplaced one. It was finally discovered once Teresa got back to her desk. It was on the bottom of Teresa’s shoe.

In her spare time, Ruby loved to read. She especially enjoyed romance novels or any book by Nicholas Sparks or James Patterson. In earlier years, she also loved to read books while watching Arkansas Razorback or OU Sooner football. The amazing part of this is that she would advance in her book and, at any given time, could tell you the score of the game!

Being a Nana or Grandmother was one of Ruby’s most favorite things. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and made it a priority to attend their events and activities. The only limitation to this was when the weather was too cold. Many times, the weather would not even prevent her from going; however, she continued wishing for half-time and then, after that, for the game to be over!

Ruby will be remembered as a great cook. Some of the dishes her family liked the most was her spaghetti, her goulash, and her pumpkin bread! Always prepared, Ruby was sure to have lotion, Kleenex, and mints in her purse at all times. Ruby also loved to wear her some blush. In recent days, this had to carefully watched by Teresa or granddaughter, Rachel.

Sweet, selfless, precious, Godly, strong, and everyone’s friend. Those are words that describe Ruby. She also had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. She laughed the most when she was able to spend time with her sisters.

A lover of her church and church family, Ruby attended the Downtown Church of Christ as long as she was able.
