Robert Glenn Prince, Cushing resident, passed away September 21, 2021 in Bixby, Oklahoma. He was 69 years old. Robert was born November 7, 1951 in Ponca City, the son of Elvin and Doris Prince. He was raised in Ponca City graduating from “Po High” where he played baseball.
Following high school, Robert attended Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa, Oklahoma. He studied Criminal Justice and worked as a DJ for the campus radio station.
Robert pursued a career in law enforcement and eventually served as the Chief of Police in Raleigh, Kansas. He met Mary Collins while ghostbusting in Pawhuska on June 25, 1984. The couple married on June 15, 1985 at her family’s home in Sand Springs.
A patriot at heart, Robert enlisted in the U.S. Air Force Reserves that same year. He was the first reservist ever to enter the Tinker Honor Guard. Robert served honorably in Desert Shield and Desert Storm, and Panama. He was extremely proud of his service to his country.
Robert also served as a correctional officer for Dick Conner’s and Boley Correctional Centers, as wells as a jailer for Lincoln County and the Iowa Tribe. Most recently, Robert worked as an associate for Walmart. He retired just a couple of years ago after multiple shoulder surgeries.
Robert enjoyed working crossword puzzles and playing all types of games on his phone. He loved running around with his good buddy Lance, especially while attending the Thursday night hockey games in Tulsa. Robert was actively involved in the American Legion through the years and most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving family members include his wife, Mary Jo Prince; his children, Sylvia Dean Ross, Kathryn Earleen Travis, Bridget Lee Rich, Elizabeth Doris Ann Prince, and Russell Glenn Thomas Prince and all twelve of his beautiful grandchildren. His is also survived by his sibling Dallas Harrison and his wife Glenda Harrison, and their children.
He is preceded in death by his Father Elvin Glenn Prince, Mother Doris Eileen Prince and his siblings William David Harrison and Theda May Jones.
Services will be held 11 AM Friday, October 1, 2021 at the Cedar Ridge Christian Church in Broken Arrow. John Winstead will be officiating. Interment will follow at 2 PM in the Ft. Gibson National Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 PM Thursday at Bixby-South Tulsa Funeral Service.
