A memorial ceremony honoring Robert "Bob" Edgar Land will be held 11 AM Saturday, March 20, 2021 at the Tulsa Scottish Rite. Bob passed away Friday, March 12, 2021 in Broken Arrow. He was 73 years old. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorial contributions to the Masonic Charity Foundation of Oklahoma, 3424 French Park Drive Edmond, OK 73034. Born February 5, 1948 in Wichita, Kansas, Bob was the son of Robert Earl and Dorothy Charlene (Martin) Land. He graduated from Wichita North High School with the Class of 1966. Following high school, Bob studied Business Administration at the Mountain View College.
Bob served honorably in the U.S. Navy, and remained proud of his submarine service throughout his lifetime. He served as an Interior Communications Electrician – IC2SS on the U.S.S. James Monroe, and an Interior Communications Electrician IC 2SS on the U.S.S. Kamehameha SSBN 642B. Following his military tenure, Bob pursued a career with Southwestern Bell where he worked many years as a Testboardman.
Technical skills always came natural to Bob Land, as he assumed several positions in the electronics industry - both as an engineer and a sales representative. He was employed by several organizations including Flow Data, BICC Vero Electronics, LH Research, Digital Marketing Southwest, Micro Data, Wil-Tek, and the Simplex Time Recorder Company. Bob also worked as a residential building contractor later in life, while also working in the business of home inspections. He would eventually operate his own home inspection company, Tulsa House Detectives, Inc. Bob also served as an instructor of the Home Inspection Licensing Course at Tulsa Community College.
Bob aspired to become a pilot and took several aviation lessons during his lifetime. While living in Florida, he became a certified scuba diver. Bob’s favorite place on earth was Hawaii, where his cremated remains will be scattered in the Pacific Ocean by his family.
Freemasonry was an integral part of Bob’s life for many years. He was elected Worshipful Master of Pilgrim-Rock Lodge #522 in Tulsa, served as an active member of the Tulsa Scottish Rite, member of the Akdar Shriner’s, and was invited to become a member of the Royal Order of Jester’s Tulsa Court No. 47. Bob was a life devoted to the Craft of Freemasonry and most of all, he cherished the many relationships he established with his brethren through the years within the fraternity.
Surviving family members include his mother, Dorothy “Charlene” Land; his sisters, Judy Parker and Alaina Pocock, nieces, Jessica Parker Avery and Diane Pocock Malojuvera and husband, Martin; nephews, Rick Parker and his wife, April, Russell Parker and his wife, Pam, Robert Parker, and Bill Pocock; his cousins, Russell Land and his wife, Geneva, and Ronnie Land and his wife, Lisa; his close friend, Vicki Sue Loehrs; his cat, Thelma; several great nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his father.
