Robert Grass Obituary

Robert Dale Grass was born November 20, 1964, in Oklahoma City, the son of Buster and Margaret (Unger) Grass. Robert grew up in the Oklahoma City suburb of Bethany. He was truly fascinated with how things worked as a budding engineer from an early age. As a child, he would regularly take items apart and put them back together. Robert once took apart his new watch that he had received for his birthday to see how it worked. He was able to re-assemble it to working order. He also loved to pester his sisters, especially Gail. He liked to play pinball, video games and build model rockets, taking numerous trips to the city parks for rocket launches. During elementary school years, he also took tap dancing lessons with his sister Marilyn and he was the star of the dance recital show every spring. Without meaning to, he would steal the show and the audience would stick around to see him dance as the very last number.

Robert graduated from Putnam City West High School with the Class of 1983. While in high school, Robert had a newspaper route, played football and enjoyed Latin Club. His junior year, Robert played on the 1981 State Football Championship team as a linebacker for the PC West Patriots.

An avid OU Sooners fan, Robert loved watching Sooner football especially with his Dad. He carried on his family's tradition by attending the University of Oklahoma as an engineering student. There he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Following college, Robert moved to Tulsa where he gained employment in the heat exchanger industry and he also designed utility poles for various applications while working in Houston. While in Tulsa, he would meet Maricel while playing an online game in 2013. The couple were married July 3, 2015.

Robert loved cats, taking in most any stray he ever encountered. In fact, his neighbors would drop stray cats and kittens over Robert's fence, knowing they would receive the best of care. Robert also enjoyed spending time outdoors riding his bike, hunting, fishing, and target shooting. He was always good with children, especially his niece and nephews. Extremely loyal to everyone throughout his lifetime, may Robert's memory be eternal within the hearts of all who loved him.

Surviving family include his wife, Maricel Grass; his mother Margaret Unger Grass; sisters Gail Grass and Dr Marilyn Grass Culp and her husband, Brian Culp of Tulsa; his niece, Colleen Wright; and nephews, Dr Phillip Culp and wife, Rebekah, and Patrick Culp; his cousins, LaFonda Phillips and Rita Ross of Stillwell, Ralph Grass of Vinita, Roger Grass of Prescott Valley, Arizona, John Grass of Brawley, California, and the Feuerbacher family of Wathena, Kansas: Aunt Ella Mae Feuerbacher, Carla Walter, Dr Mike Feuerbacher, Sarah Feuerbacher and Rebekah Clary.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, Buster Grass in 2003.
