A Celebration of Life ceremony honoring the life of Ray W. Frick will be held 2 PM Monday, November 15, 2021 at the Crossroads Fellowship in Bixby. Visitation will begin at 1 PM, also at Crossroads. Ray passed away Wednesday morning, November 10, 2021 at Porta Caeli House in Tulsa. He was 81.
Born February 7, 1940 in Quay, Oklahoma, Ray was the son of Ernest and Clara (Going) Frick. He grew up on a farm raising cattle and crops. Ray graduated from Quay High School with only 12 classmates. During high school, Ray was a great basketball player and loved music. He started playing the guitar while attending Northeastern Oklahoma College in Miami and joined a group called “Lonnie and the Big Beats.” They played gigs around the Bartlesville area.
Ray spent most of his career in the oil and gas industry as a Landman and in Division Order. The industry downturn in 1990 led him into the insurance business where he became an Agent with Farmer’s Insurance. Ray would return to the oil and gas industry in 2006 and did contract work in Houston for BP America. Williams Companies eventually brought him back to the Tulsa area in 2010 and he retired in 2012.
Ray loved boating and the lake. His dream came true when he purchased a lakefront home on Grand Lake near Grove, Oklahoma. Ray’s Mark Twain runabout boat was truly his pride and joy. Ray got involved in barbershop style singing and joined the Tulsa barbershop group of SPEBSQSA. He also sang in a quartet for several years with three other church members forming the “Covenant Quartet.” They sang at many churches in the area.
Surviving family include his loving wife, Jacqueline Frick; his children, Sonny Frick, Daniel Frick and wife, Laura, Russ Kuhn and wife, Heidi, Jamie Scrivner and husband, Tim; his grandchildren, Morin, Derik, Melissa, Alex, Chris, Greg, Emelia, Ellie, Evie, Jack, Fiona, and Shane; his sister, Allene Brewer of Bartlesville, brother, John Frick and wife, Wanda of Bowie, Maryland; Nancy Wriston, a close friend and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
