Michael "Mike" Richardson was born November 17 th , 1954, at Bolling Airforce Base in Washington DC, to James & Marguerite Richardson. Mike graduated the University of Oklahoma in 1982 and held his master's from Oklahoma City University.
Mike married his soulmate, Debby Sammons - Richardson on June 23 rd , 1978, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at Sunnyside Baptist Church, by the Reverend Clarence C Sammons.
Mike was a motor-jock for the Oklahoma City Police Department from 1976 - 1988. He later owned the Mike Richardson Insurance Agency from 1987 - 2012 located in Oklahoma City & Tulsa. Most recently Mike was known & famous for his mouth watering BBQ which he served out of his food truck "EAT MIKES BBQ." Mike won several Tulsa "A-List" awards and also served as a Kansas City BBQ Society judge.
Mike loved to cook. His passion was found after joining the inaugural "Bachelor Living." The home economics class was the first all boys class, offered by his High School and Nationally in 1972. It was later featured in SEVENTEEN magazine. This was the same young man who coerced his grade school Cafeteria lady to give him the recipe to the school's BBQ. Who knew it would be his start into BBQ!
Mike was an outdoor enthusiast. He enjoyed hiking, going to the National Parks, camping, deep sea fishing, attending OU football & softball games; always with his family. He loved history and was a true patriot and loved & respected his country and all who fought for it.
Mike served faithfully as Deacon at South Tulsa Baptist Church for many years.
Mike is survived by his wife, Debby, their children Meredith Richardson-Kelley & her husband Byron Kelley of Moody, TX, Taylor Michael & his wife Melissa Richardson of Oklahoma City, Aimee Beth Richardson-Nelson & her husband Brian Nelson of Wamego, KS, and Chelsea Elizabeth Richardson of Tulsa, OK; his beloved grandchildren Bennett, Ella, Rachel, Bleu, and expected granddaughter, Dorothy Jo "Dottie"; brother Ed Richardson of Ashville, North Carolina, and sister Susan San Souci and her husband Jim of The Highlands, North Carolina; cousins Timothy, Peggy, & Jamie Blakenship of Virginia.
A funeral service honoring MIke will be held 10 AM Friday, August 4, 2023 at South Tulsa Baptist Church. The service will be livestreamed here:
