A Celebration of Life will be held 11 AM Saturday, January 27 at the Maranatha Assembly of God Church, 1315 S. 73rd E. Avenue 74112, to honor the life of Maxine Knox, who passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at the age of 70.
Maxine was born on July 19, 1953, in Biloxi, Mississippi, to Mac and Lula Wilkerson. At a young age, her family relocated to the San Gabriel Valley area to be closer to relatives. Maxine attended Mt. Olive and Duarte High School before returning to Tulsa in the late '70s, once again choosing the warmth of family ties in Tulsa.
A devoted mother, Maxine leaves behind a legacy of love through her five children: Lisa Legates and husband Charles, Gary Knox and wife Candace Hagman, Chris Knox, Kristi Heath, and Thomas Knox. Her spouse, David Wells, shared many precious moments with her.
Maxine was a hardworking and independent spirit, having been self-employed as a housekeeper for many years. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, from her love of fishing to trying her luck on penny machines. Maxine had a passion for collecting eagles of all types and enjoyed the challenge of working on jigsaw puzzles. Her nimble fingers were also skilled at crocheting, creating beautiful pieces that will be cherished by those who knew her.
Maxine is survived by her children: Lisa Legates and husband, Charles, Gary Knox and wife Candice Hagman, Chris Knox, Kristi Heath, Thomas Knox; as well as her spouse, David Wells; her grandchildren: Brittney Workman, Breeanna Ward, Coalton James, Hailey Scribner, Mariah Knox, Kaity Gravitt, Ashlyn Knox, Cierra Heath, and Derrick Heath. Maxine's great-grandchildren, Kaleigh Workman, Colton Workman, Braxton Ward, and Kiah Ward, added boundless joy to her life. She is also remembered by her brother, Randy Wilkerson.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Mike Wilkerson, and her sister Joann Moore. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who were touched by her kindness, love, and vibrant spirit.
