Mark Anthony Rushing

A Celebration of Life ceremony honoring the life of Mark Anthony Rushing will be held 2 PM Tuesday, October 17, 2023 in the Rivercrest Chapel, 13329 S. Memorial Drive in Bixby. A reception will follow in the Great Room. Mark passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2023 in Tulsa. He was 59 years old.

Born September 1, 1964 in Somerville, Massachusetts, Mark was the son of Richard and Dorothy (Dugan) Rushing. As a child, Mark was extremely adventurous. He could always be found outdoors climbing rocks and trees, playing hockey, or woodworking. Mark graduated from Plymouth High School in 1981.

Following high school, Mark enlisted in the United States Army. He served honorably and was stationed in Germany for most of his military tenure. Mark worked in telecommunications where he received extensive training. This prepared him for a long and successful career in the telecom industry's private sector.

Mark excelled both as a manager, as well as an engineer for XETA Technologies, Inc. He designed the phone systems for Hilcrest Medical, the University of Oklahoma in Tulsa, and Tulsa Community College.

Mark knew a little bit about everything, always full of good insight and information about most any topic or question he encountered. He was a loving father and great provider to his children, Nicole, Sarah, and Jacob. Calm, independent, and handy are words that might best describe Mark.

Because he was handy, Mark was never a fan of paying somebody to do something that he could accomplish himself. He loved reading literature, especially Sci-Fi novels and American history. An avid sports fan, Mark loved the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, Boston Bruins, and the Tulsa Oilers. He enjoyed fishing for trout and bass, kayaking, and boating of all types.

Surviving family include his children, Nicole Rushing, Sarah Lewis and her husband, Josiah, and Jacob Rushing; grandchildren, Nora and Rowan Lewis; sisters, Deborah Rushing and Robin Nolan; niece, Jolene Rushing, and his nephew, Michael Rushing.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Colleen Talent; brother, Michael Rushing, and his nephew, Paul Nolan.
