Mark Lindsley Obituary

Born June 17, 1956 in Oklahoma City, Mark Duane Lindsley was the son of Cecil Gene and Alice Marie (Branson) Lindsley. His family moved to Florida when he was young. Mark grew up in Longwood, FL, a suburb of Orlando. He loved the beach, where he could be found trapping spiny lobsters. Mark also enjoyed playing baseball during his early years and riding motorcycles. He graduated from Lyman High School in Longwood with the Class of 1974.

Following high school, Mark entered the U.S. Army. He was proud of his military service. However, his honorable discharge came sooner than he had planned due to a medical condition. Mark loved everything about the military and watched the military channel religiously. A lover of technology, Mark was very knowledgeable about aviation, guns, and other various forms of tactical equipment. He enjoyed collecting an assortment of items - from fishing rods and flashlights to guns and knives.

Mark returned to Oklahoma in 1978 to work in the oil field. He was employed by Dresser Atlas for about 10 years until the oil boom ended. While living in Perry, Mark was introduced to Sandy through mutual friends. The couple married November 7, 1981, and they successfully raised two children together. Mark also worked for AT&T in Oklahoma City and ASEC Manufacturing at the Port of Catoosa. He eventually attended the Spartan School of Aeronautics, where he obtained his Airframe and Powerplant license.

Mark was known to be kind and thoughtful, as well as having a “steel trap” memory. He loved God and held on to his faith throughout many difficult situations. He returned to Florida in 2001 when his health began to decline. Mark passed away Monday morning, March 30, 2020, in Owasso in the presence of his loving family. He was 63.

Surviving family members include his daughter, Allison Blasi and husband Klint, and his son, Bryan Lindsley; his father, Cecil Lindsley; the mother of his children, Sandy Lindsley; his brother, Dale Lindsley and wife Alice; his niece, Kim Gladden; and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Graham Blasi; and his mother, Alice Lindsley.
