Lorene passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021. She was 96.
Born December 6, 1924 in Stillwell, Oklahoma, Lorene was one of ten children born to Lee and Eva (Hall) Rich. Raised in the Stillwell area, the Rich family were farmers and Lorene certainly did her part to chip in with the daily chores. Later in life when seeing others out in the fields working, she would often comment, “I’ve been there and done that!”
Upon graduating from high school, Lorene moved to Tulsa with one of her sisters and began working as a waitress. During that time, she was introduced to a young gentleman named Jack Dale Blevins. This introduction would be the beginning of a beautiful relationship that lasted until Jack’s passing in 1995.
Lorene and Jack were blessed with three sons over the years. Dale, Jimmy, and Roy. A homemaker, Lorene had her work cut out for her raising those boys. One of the activities she knew she could keep them busy with was fishing. In fact, the boys said they’ve been out on the creek banks fishing for as long as they can remember. Fishing was certainly a favorite pastime that Lorene absolutely loved! A really precious time was, this past August, when she was able to enjoy one last fishing outing surrounded by her family.
If she wasn’t fishing, Lorene could probably be found sewing or quilting, picking pecans, or in her kitchen cooking or baking. She was famous for her Mississippi mud cake, although you had to watch out for pecan shells these past few years, and all of the kids certainly enjoyed her annual Easter bunny cake too!
Devoted to her family and her Hectorville Free Will Baptist Church family, Lorene was a Godly, loving, and hard-working woman. She was able to pass along so many life lessons to her family and she will forever be remembered, cherished, and missed by those she leaves to carry out her legacy.
She is survived by: her sons: Dale Blevins (Bobbie), Jim Blevins, and Roy Blevins; siblings: Greata Patterson, Margie Kelly, Erma Stone, Mageline McAnelly, and Wilma Miller (Jay); grandchildren: Robert Blevins, Tammy Caudle (Mike), Jamie Hagan (Becky), Jason Blevins (Leanna), Janelle Blevins (Chais), Brian Blevins, and Becky Shrum (DJ); great-grandchildren: Matt (Shelbi), Ryan, Drew, Kimi, Jacob, Elizabeth, Anna, Ace, Hunter, Henry, Danny, Jack, Luke and one great-great, Lydia Shay (due March 2021).
