Funeral Services remembering Larry Don Thompson, Jr. will be held 1 PM Friday, December 11, 2020 at the Haikey Chapel. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 PM Thursday at the RiverCrest Chapel in Bixby. Larry passed away Monday, December 7, 2020 in Tahlequah at the age of 37. Arrangements are under the direction of Bixby Funeral Service.
Larry was born December 27, 1982 at the Claremore Indian Hospital. He was the son of Larry Don, Sr. and Augustine (Tulsa). Larry was raised in Glenpool where he attended school and ran on the track team. He graduated from Glenpool High School with the Class of 2001.
A man with a big heart, Larry loved spending time with his family. There were many evenings that he and his son Keagan would sit in front of the firepit watching the sunset. He always offered a helping hand when anyone would call upon him. Larry loved to make people laugh and be happy.
His father being a Shriner, Larry spent a great deal of time volunteering with the Akdar Shriner’s in Tulsa. Larry loved deer hunting and fishing for anything that would bite. His biggest accomplishment was having a one-on-one relationship with God.
Larry was brought into the Pow Wow arena at an early age and he was good at it! When he wasn’t Pow Wowing or doing family things, he was working hard to provide for his family. Larry helped rebuild the power circuit in Louisiana following Hurricane Katrina. There were also many times you could find him dangling from helicopters while working in the mountains of California. While working in New York, Whoopie Goldberg thanked Larry personally for restoring her power.
Larry’s hard work and dedication will not soon be forgotten by his family who loved him. He requested to be laid to rest alongside his grandmother, Helen Catherine Sawyer, his grandfather, Curly Thompson, and his great grandmother, Beatrice Beaver. Larry was also preceded in death by his grandmother, Sue Buzzard and his grandfather, George Tulsa.
Larry leaves behind his parents, Larry Thompson Sr. and his wife, Margie of Glenpool; and Augustine Tulsa of Okmulgee; his four children, Skyler Don Thompson of Glenpool, Kirsten Bagwell, Kayden Bagwell, and Keagan Thompson all of Muskogee; his sisters, Isha and Carrie Thompson; step-sister, Brandy McIntosh; nephews, Jayden, Ashton, Mikey, Aiden and nieces, Aaliyah and Aiyana.
