LaVonne Todd Obituary

Services to honor and remember the life of Alyce LaVonne Todd will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2020 in the RiverCrest Chapel, Bixby. Interment will follow in Duck Creek Cemetery. LaVonne passed away on Monday, January 27, 2020 at her home – surrounded by her family. She was 86.

Born December 11, 1933 in Lequire, Oklahoma, LaVonne was the youngest of 12 children. Her parents were John Henry and Hattie Leona (Spradling) Greenmyer, farmers on the outskirts of Stigler. LaVonne had early memories of riding on a cotton sack while her family picked cotton.

Attending school in Stigler, LaVonne had a fondness of singing and was a member of the school’s Glee Club. She would also use her voice singing in church and was even featured on a Christian Radio Program. She remained devout in her Faith and in service to her Lord throughout her life.

On September 5, 1953, LaVonne would marry Floyd Max Todd in a Stigler wedding ceremony. These schoolmates would make their home in Tulsa and, in 1967, made a move to the Liberty Mounds community where they continued to reside throughout their lifetimes. The couple celebrated 54 years of marriage until Max’s passing in August of 2008.

Through the years, LaVonne would work as a telephone operator, a demonstrator at Glencliff, and as a cake decorator and manager in the bakery at Humpty Dumpty. She also kept the books for Max’s construction business and worked at the Tulsa Fairgrounds – where she became well-known and often requested.

Described as: kind and loving but determined. LaVonne could be plain spoken and sometimes feisty. There is no doubt she was in her element when surrounded by people. Those who knew and loved her will certainly miss her presence.

Survived by her children: son, Mike Todd and wife, Darlene; daughters: Karen Farr and husband, Ronnie, and Robin (Todd) Petrone; sisters: Melba Spears and Dottie Short; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Max Todd, son, Farren Todd, and grandsons, Rusty Joe Farr and Colt Petrone.
