Kenneth Newell Bourne

A memorial ceremony honoring the life of Kenneth Newell Bourne will be held 11 AM Tuesday, November 21, 2023 in the Rivercrest Chapel, 13329 S. Memorial Drive in Bixby. Chaplain Randy Shaddox will be officiating. Kenneth passed away Wednesday evening, November 8, 2023 at his home in Tulsa. He was 84 years old.

Born July 22, 1939 in Bokoshe, Oklahoma, Kenneth was the son of Clarence and Jewel Bourne. Kenneth was raised in Tulsa, graduating from Central High School in 1957. He attended Okmulgee Tech where he studied drafting.

Kenneth served as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years. He was notarized as the "Hero of the Month" in the Tulsa Tribune for extinguishing a house fire on his mail route.

A talented square dancer, Kenneth met Sharon at the "Swingin' Singles" square dance club. The couple were married November 8, 1975 at Eastwood Baptist Church, with Pastor Tom Elliff officiating.

Kenneth enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, and especially cooking. He was known to make the best egg rolls ever! Kenneth loved his charcoal grill, and his BBQ ribs were enjoyed by many people throughout the years.

Surviving family include his wife, Sharon; his children, Vicki Gwartney and husband, Tim; son, Christopher Michael Bourne and wife, Sheryl; Mark Alan Davidson and wife, Heather; many grandchildren; his sister, Karen Duty; and numerous extended family and friends.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents.
