A funeral ceremony honoring, remembering, and celebrating the life of Karina Aurora Rivera will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021 @ 1pm in the Rivercrest Chapel. The Rivera family will receive visitors on Thursday, October 7th from 5-8 PM Thursday, also at Rivercrest Chapel.
Karina was born March 14, 1969 in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Karina is survived by her loving husband, Michael Rivera, her children, Valerie (Beto) Dominguez, Michelle Rivera, and Erik (Isabella) Rivera; her grandchildren, Elijah, Manuel, Adrian, Evelyn, and Leonardo; four siblings, Ron (Ingrid) Farfan, Taylor (Marlee) Farfan, Franklin (Mayra) Farfan, and Norma Farfan and her parents, Reynaldo and Norma Farfan.
The Farfan family relocated to Chicago when Karina was only 12 years old. It was in Chicago where Karina met the love of her life, Michael Angelo Rivera while attending the Pan de Vida Church. The couple married November 30, 1985 at their home church, Pan De Vida.
According to Karina, “The Bible is the only book you need to read.” She spent her entire life seeking and praising God, and absolutely loved reading her Bible. Karina and Michael’s calling to ministry brought them to Tulsa in 1996. She loved Tulsa, and the slower pace of life which allowed her to spend more quality time with her family. Karina was fully devoted to her life as a wife, mother, and grandmother to her five precious grandchildren. Most importantly, Karina ensured that her family knew the importance of God in their lives.
Karina taught Sunday School for many years at the Cornerstone Spanish Church. She absolutely loved Praise and Worship music, attending concerts, and listening to her favorite records by the Casting Crowns, the Eagles, and Eric Clapton. Karina will be forever remembered by a host of family and friends who loved her.
