Obituary

JONNA LOU CHRISTIAN WAS BORN ON FEB. 7, 1947 IN BOONEVILLE, ARKANSAS TO HERMAN UDELL AND JONNIE FAYE WILKINS BELL. SHE PASSED INTO THE ARMS OF HER HEAVENLY FATHER ON MARCH 19TH. 2021 IN JENKS, OKLAHOMA.

HER FAMILY MOVED TO GLENPOOL, OKLAHOMA WHEN JONNA WAS A YEAR OLD AND THAT’S WHERE THEY STAYED. JONNA ATTENDED AND GRADUATED FROM GLENPOOL SCHOOLS AND STARTED HER WORK LIFE. ONE OF HER FIRST JOBS WAS AS A WAITRESS IN A RESTURANT OWNED BY THE NOTORIOUS CLEO EPPS, WHO SHE LATER IN LIFE FOUND OUT WAS A TULSA BOOTLEGGER AND A MEMBER OF THE TULSA MAFIA. SHE LATER WORKED IN THE SNACK BAR AT THE OKLAHOMA OSTEOPATHY HOSPITAL WHERE SHE MET HER FIRST HUSBAND, WILLARD RAY WILLIAMS. THEY MADE THEIR HOME IN TULSA, WHERE THEIR SON CODELL RAY WILLIAMS WAS BORN. THEY LATER MOVED TO AN ACREAGE IN CREEK COUNTY WHERE THEIR DAUGHTER JONNIE RAYE WILLIAMS WAS BORN. JONNA THEN OPENED AND OPERATED A DAYCARE CENTER FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS. AFTER CLOSING THE DAYCARE CENTER SHE WENT TO WORK FOR DOCTOR RICHARD LAWYER AS A CHIROPRACTIC ASSISTANT AT THE JENKS CHIROPRACTIC CLINIC WHERE SHE STAYED UNTIL HER RETIREMENT IN 2009.

AFTER RAY’S UNTIMELY DEATH IN 1994, JONNA MOVED TO JENKS WHERE SHE REMAINED UNTIL HER PASSING.

IN 1997 JONNA MARRIED DONALD WAYNE CHRISTIAN OF JENKS. WITH THIS MARRIGE CAME ANOTHER SON, DONALD CHRISTIAN JR., AND ANOTHER DAUGHTER, KIMBERLY PITTINGER.

SHE IS ALSO SURVIVED BY HER ADOPTED DAUGHTER TERESA ESSANDOH AND HUSBAND ALBERT AND THEIR DAUGHTER GABRIELLE.

SHE IS ALSO SURVIVED BY MANY BROTHER AND SISTER-IN-LAWS, NIECES, NEPHEWS, COUSINS AND MANY OTHER RELATIVES, FRIENDS, AND NEIGHBORS.

JONNA WAS FUN LOVING, PLAYFULLY MISCHIEVOUS, AND AT TIMES DOWNRIGHT ORNERY. SHE WOULD MESS WITH HER HUSBAND DON, HER CHILDREN, HER GRANDCHILDREN, HER SIBLINGS AND ANYONE ELSE SHE COULD. BUT SHE WAS STILL A VERY LOVING PERSON, KIND TO ALL, COMPASSIONATE AND A VERY DEVOTED WIFE, MOTHER, AND GRANDMOTHER. JONNA NEVER MET A STRANGER AND WOULD TALK TO ANYONE WHO WOULD TALK WITH HER. SHE WAS VERY SELFLESS AND WAS ALWAYS LOOKING TO HELP ANYBODY THAT SHE COULD, BECAUSE SHE HAD AN EXTREMELY GENEROUS HEART, AND WOULD ALWAYS PUT OTHERS BEFORE HERSELF.

SHE WAS FIRST AND FORMOST A GRANDMOTHER, SHE RELISHED THIS ROLE AND LIVED FOR THE MOMENTS AND MEMORIES MADE AND TIME SHE SPENT WITH EACH GRANDCHILD. SHE LOVED HER GRANDCHILDREN WITH ALL HER HEART AND SOUL AND OFTEN TOLD THEM THAT SHE LOVED THEM TO INFINITY AND BEYOND. SHE SPENT AS MUCH TIME AS POSSIBLE WITH THE GRANDKIDS AND WOULD DO ALMOST ANYTHING TO ENTERTAIN THEM, FROM FIGHTING VILLAIN’S AND MONSTERS IN THE BACK YARD TO BUILDING TENTS IN THE LIVING ROOM, ALLOWING THEM TO USE THE COUCH AS A SPRING BOARD AND HAVING NERF GUN FIGHTS. WHEN NERF GUN CAME OUT SHE HAD TO BUY ONE OF HER OWN TO FIGHT BACK WITH WHEN THEY WOULD ATTACK HER. THEY HAD THESE FIGHTS OUTSIDE AND INSIDE AND AT TIMES DON GOT CAUGHT IN THE LINE OF FIRE AS HE TRIED TO WATCH THE NEWS ON T.V. DON THINKS THEY DID THIS ON PURPOSE AS HE SOMETIME SAW THEM TAKE AIM AT HIM.

JONNA BELIEVED IN THE OLD SAYING OF FAMILY FIRST AND SHE ALWAYS PUT HER FAMILY FIRST IN HER LIFE. SHE WAS VERY PROTECTIVE OF HER HUSBAND, HER CHILDREN, GRANDCHILDREN, AND OTHER FAMILY AND FRIENDS. YOU DID NOT MESS WITH HER FAMILY OR SHE WAS VERY CAPABLE OF GETTING IN YOUR FACE AND LETTING YOU KNOW NOT TO TALK OR MESS WITH HER LOVED ONES.

AFTER HER FAMILY, HER BIGGEST PLEASURE IN LIFE WAS SQUARE DANCING. SHE AND DON WERE LONG TIME PROUD MEMBERS OF THE DOUBLE RING SQUARE DANCE CLUB OF TULSA. ASIDE FROM DANCING THEIR CLUBS SCHEDULED DANCES, THEY DANCED ALL OVER NORTH EASTERN OKLAHOMA, VISITING AND DANCING WITH OTHER SQUARE DANCE CLUBS. JONNA TOOK GREAT PLEASURE IN ATTENDING AND DANCING AT THE ANNUAL NORTH EASTEREN OKLAHOMA SQUARE DANCE FESTIVAL. SHE ALSO ENJOYED ATTENDING AND DANCING THE H BAR H WEEKEND AT WESTERN HILLS LODGE. SHE WAS VERY SADDENED WHEN SHE DEVELOPED A FOOT PROBLEM THAT ENDED HER SQUARE DANCING, BUT THIS NEVER STOPPED HER FROM ENJOYING SQUARE DANCE STYLE MUSIC.
HER NEXT PLEASURE IN LIFE WAS WATCHING FOOTBALL. IT DIDN’T MATTER IF IT WAS IN THE STADIUM OR ON THE TELEVISION, SHE LOVED TO ATTEND JENKS LITTLE LEAUGE FOOTBALL GAMES AND ENJOYED THE PEEWEE TEAMS WHERE SHE CALLED THE PLAYERS “HELMETS WITH LEGS”. SHE ATTENDED ALL LITTLE LEAUGE GAMES THAT SHE COULD FOLLOWING HER GRANDCHILDREN AS PLAYERS AND CHEERLEADERS. SHE ATTENDED ALMOST EVERY GAME FOR HER BELOVED JENKS TROJANS AND VERY RARELY MISSED A GAME. SHE WATCHED HER BELOVED OKLAHOMA SOONERS ON TV AND MADE SURE SHE WAS HOME ON SATURDAYS TO WATCH THEM PLAY. JONNA WOULD ALSO WATCH ANY OTHER TEAMS THAT WERE ON TV, SOMETIMES TILL LATE AT NIGHT ON WEEKENDS. JONNA DID THIS EVEN INTO HER ILLNESS, SHE WOULD SIT IN HER WHEELCHAIR AND WATCH ANY FOOTBALL GAME THAT WAS ON, AND NEVER FAILED TO CHEER THEM ON. BUT SOMETIMES SHE GOT TO CHEERING FOR THE WRONG TEAM. WHEN TOLD THIS, SHE WOULD ASK “THEN WHICH TEAM ARE WE?”

JONNA LOVED TO TAKE LONG RIDES IN THE COUNTRYSIDE SAYING THAT THIS CALMED HER NERVES AND LOWERED HER STRESS AND WORRY LEVELS. SHE ALSO LOVED GOING TO THE LAKE, SITTING ON A ROCK WHILE LISTENING TO THE SOUND OF THE WAVES WHICH ALSO CALMED HER AND BROUGHT HER JOY.

JONNA ENJOYED TRAVELING AND TAKING VACATIONS WHERE SHE DIDN’T WANT TO SEE THE NORMAL ATTRACTIONS, INSTEAD SHE LIKED TO EXPLORE MISSIONS, ROCK FORMATIONS, OLD MINES, AND CAVES. AFTER PLANNING A WEEK OR TWO WEEK VACATION, SHE WOULD REQUEST TO GO HOME AFTER 3 OR 4 DAYS SAYING THAT SHE NEEDED TO GET BACK TO HER GRANDBABIES. WHEN TOLD THAT THE GRANDBABIES WERE SAFE WITH THEIR PARENTS, SHE WOULD REPLY “THAT’S THE PROBLEM. I DON’T TRUST THEIR PARENTS WITH THEM.” THIS IS BECAUSE WITHOUT HER GRANDBABIES IN HER PRESENCE, SHE WAS NEVER TRULY SATISFIED.

THE FAMILY WANTS YOU TO REMEMBER THAT ALTHOUGH SHE IS GONE SHE WILL ALWAYS BE BY HER LOVED ONES SIDES, LOOKING OUT FOR YOU, GUIDING YOU, AND HOLDING YOUR HAND THROUGH HARD TIMES. SHE WOULD NOT WANT YOU TO BE GRIEVE FOR LONG BUT TO STOP GRIEVING AND ENJOY THE MEMORIES AS THEY WILL BE WITH YOU FOREVER. JONNAS MEMORY SHOULD BE CHERISHED AND TRESURED BY THOSE THAT WERE BLESSED TO KNOW AND LOVE HER.

THE FAMILY WOULD LIKE TO THANK THE STAFF OF GRACE HOSPICE FOR THEIR EXCELLENT CARE OF JONNA IN HER FINAL MONTHS, ESPECIALLY HER NURSE STEVE CARTER AND HER TECHS DESTINY AND CAITLAN FOR THEIR COMPASSIONATE CARE OF JONNA.

DON WOULD ALSO LIKE HIS DAUGHTERS, JONNIE AND KIMBERLY AS WELL AS HIS SISTER-IN-LAWS, WANDA AND LISA TO KNOW HOW MUCH HE APPRICIATES THEIR LOVING CARE AND TIME SPENT WITH THEIR MOTHER AND SISTER IN HER FINAL DAYS AND WANTS TO THANK THEM FOR EASING HIS LOAD.
