John Gastorf passed away Saturday, April 30, 2022 following a battle with Cancer. John's Celebration of life will be a private family funeral service.
Born March 27, 1944 in St. Louis, John was the son of Jack C. and Geraldine N. (Taylor) Gastorf.
John married Janice Lorraine Burton on November 4, 1967 in Havana, IL. He was the proud father of Jeffrey A. Gastorf, Jason A. Gastorf, and Jennifer A. Gastorf; and loving grandfather of 7 grandchildren.
Surviving family members include his wife Janice of the home; his brother, Douglas K. Gastorf of Denton, TX and his sister, D'Anne C. Weber of Kirkwood, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Jeannine E. Prost.
John attended St. Louis University, Cardinal Glennon College, the University of Missouri, and Southern Illinois University. He received his doctorate in Psychology from the State University of New York - Albany.
A Combat Medic, John served honorably during the Vietnam War. He was also a Cubmaster for Pack 41, Scoutmaster of Troop 117, and also served at the District, Sectional, and National levels. John was an Eagle Scout, Vigil member of the Order of the Arrow, and received Scouting's Silver Beaver Award. He retired as Director of Behavioral Health for the Cherokee Nation in 2010.
