Jeffery Dean "J.D." Walker was born December 27th, 1953, in Pryor Creek, Oklahoma to Jefferson Roy and Laura Joann Walker (Morgan). He graduated college from OSU in 1977 with a B.S. in Computer Science. J.D. went to work later that same year for AMOCO in Tulsa, Ok., as a computer programmer supporting their corporate accounting systems. J.D. retired from AMOCO in 2009 and devoted himself fulltime to substitute teaching for Union Public Schools, Tulsa Vo tech, and various other board and committee positions within the Tulsa Community.
J.D. was an avid outdoorsman who loved to travel, climb mountains, and ride his bicycle all over town. He gave generously of his time as a lifelong leader of the Boy Scouts of America organization. He was a hard working do-it-yourselfer, auto mechanic and classic car enthusiast. No task was beneath him, and he was always eager to lend a hand to others.
J.D. was preceded in death by his father Jefferson R. Walker (2021). He is survived by his mother Laura J. Walker (Pryor, OK) and his brother David M. Walker (Liberty Hill, TX).
J.D. is survived by his loving wife Portia Ann Walker (Tulsa, OK) and their two sons Forrest Walker (Edmond, OK) and Brooke Walker (Makawao, Maui, HI). And also by 6 grandchildren; Nash Walker (Edmond, OK), Sam Walker (Edmond, OK) James Walker (Edmond, OK), Charlie Walker (Edmond, OK), Harold Walker (Edmond, OK) and Maverick Matahi d’Antin-Walker (Makawao, Maui, HI).
A celebration of life for J.D. Walker will be held on Friday January 27th at 2:00 PM, at Rivercrest Event Center (Bixby, OK).
In Lieu of flowers, J.D. had requested that any donations be made to “pancan.org”, an organization that supports pancreatic cancer patients and research.
