Janis Ann Lee

A memorial service honoring Janis Ann Lee will be held 2 PM Tuesday, November 22 at the United Methodist Church in Leonard. Janis passed away Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa. She was 69 years old.

Born August 15, 1953 in Tulsa, Janis was the daughter of Joe and Geraldine Donelson. She spent her early years in north Tulsa, relocating to Bixby in the 8th Grade. Janis was a cheerleader for both Gilcrease Jr. High and Bixby High School. She graduated from Bixby with the Class of 1971.

Following high school, Janis attended business school at Tulsa Junior College. Professionally, she served as the assistant to the District Attorney in LeFlore County, as well as an administrative role in the Oklahoma State Department of Corrections. Janis returned home to Tulsa while working for the Department of Human Services until her retirement in 2016.

Janis Lee was known to be a wonderful mother, wife, and friend to so many people. She was truly an incredible woman! She always had a prayer for anybody that needed one, loved to laugh, and was never afraid to tell you exactly what was on her mind. Janis loved serving in the Leonard United Methodist Church where she and her husband, Randy, attended for many years. The couple traveled across the country on their Honda Gold Wing throughout their retirement years to destinations such as Niagara Falls, Glacier State Park in Montana, multiple trips to Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, and all over Colorado and Arkansas.

Surviving family include her loving husband, Randy Lee; her two sons, Eric Mead and his wife, Jen and Austin Mead and his wife, Katie; stepson, Robert Mead and wife, Misty, and her stepdaughter, Delisa Scott and husband, Josh; grandchildren, Greyson, Maranda, and Lauren; 4 great grandchildren; and her brothers, John Donelson and Joe Donelson and his wife, Hazel; and her sisters, Tammy Flickenger, Brenda Stoffel, and Karen Gwen.



Janis was preceded in death by her parents.
