A Celebration of Life ceremony honoring the life of Janice Nolen Navarro will be held 2 PM Thursday, October 19, 2023 in the Rivercrest Chapel, 13329 S. Memorial Drive in Bixby. A reception will follow in the Great Room. Janice passed away Friday evening, October 13, 2023 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa. She was 68 years old.
Born July 29, 1955 in Nashville, Janice was the daughter of John Clifton and Iva June (Tidwell) Nolen. She grew up just west of Nashville in Dickson County, Tennessee. While in high school, Janice was a cheerleader, basketball player and also played the piano. She took piano lessons for many years, learning a skillset that would endure throughout her lifetime. Janice graduated from Dickson County High School with the Class of 1973.
Following high school, Janice began training as a lab technician at the Nashville State Community College. This would lead to a lifelong career in healthcare - also working as an X-ray technician, and later attending nursing school at Aquinas College in Nashville. Through the years, Janice worked in family practice, surgery, rehabilitation, and ultimately, as a hospice nurse for Saint Francis in Tulsa. She always had an incredible amount of love for her patients and their families, as they did for her.
A wonderful mother, Janice's daughter Tiffany entered the world in 1975. She showed Tiffany an undying love and was so proud of her accomplishments in life. Janice worked relentlessly to give her the all the support she needed to succeed. Whatever Janice did in life, she gave her all to family, friends, colleagues, and all those she knew. She enjoyed crocheting, as well as working outdoors in her vegetable and flower gardens. A fantastic cook, Janice's southern dishes will not soon be forgotten - especially her cornbread!
Surviving family include her daughter, Tiffany Egdorf and husband, Lee of Tulsa; her sister, Gwen Day and husband, Bob Thrush of Cross Plains, Tennessee; her beloved Chihuahua, Leo; her kitty cat, Britte; and her superhero Beagle, Hammond.
