A graveside service honoring the life of James Harris Rubert will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 24, 2023 in the Woodland Memorial Park Cemetery. Jim passed away Tuesday evening, May 16, 2023 in Bartlesville. He was 85 years old.
Jim was born in Oklahoma City on July 19, 1937 to Fred and Eunice Rubert. He was the youngest sibling to three sisters, Patty, Rosetta, and Rosalee. They grew up in Parsons, Kansas where Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding motorcycles.
Jim moved to the Tulsa area where he married and divorced his first wife, Yvonne. They had four children, Karen and Sharon (twins), Michael, and Sandy. Jim worked at Affiliated Foods where he met his second wife, Lee (LaWana) Persall who had three sons, Terry, Bud (Darrell), and Kevin who were later adopted by Jim making the number of children seven. After Lee passed away February 4, 1991, Jim was introduced to his third wife, Mary. They were married in November 1991 and made their life together in Collinsville until Mary's death January 5, 2019.
Jim was always a hard worker beginning with working in a bakery while he was in high school in Altamont. When he moved to the Tulsa area, he worked in the printing business, the Sand Springs smelter (ASARCO), and in wholesale paper distributors (XPEDX) until his retirement.
Jim was young at heart and was always showing family and friends a good time....especially at Halloween, his favorite holiday. He would turn his garage into a haunted house with a multitude of decorations and of course a lot of candy for the neighborhood kids who loved to come to his house.
Jim spent all of his free time working in his woodshop where his favorite creations were baby cribs for his grandchildren, airplanes the grandkids could ride that he loved to paint to look realistic, outhouse jewelry boxes, hope chests, bird houses, decorative crosses, and a multitude of other treasures. He loved making Wahoo game boards which he spent hours playing with Mary's sister, Sharon Brown, who was a wonderful friend. He and his son, Bud, took a guitar making class together where Jim made quite the impact on the teacher with his red telecaster style guitar that plays beautifully.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Eunice Rubert; his three wives, Yvonne, Lee, and Mary; two of his children, daughter, Sharon Rubert; son, Mike Rubert; and his three sisters, Patty, Rosetta, and Rosalee.
Jim is survived by his children, Terry Rubert and companion Diana; Bud (Darrell) Rubert and his wife Beverly; Kevin Rubert and his wife Terri; Karen Ray; Sandy Tate and her husband Jody; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family and friends.
