James Emmerson Obituary

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Jim Emmerson will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at RiverCrest Chapel and Event Center in Bixby. Jim passed away on Monday, August 10, 2020 at home. He was 66.

Born June 29, 1954 in Long Beach, California, James Emmerson was the third of four children gifted to Clifton Emmerson and Alice Sawyer. James or “Jim”, as he was affectionately known, would attend school through elementary. He would then begin his machinists’ career as he was barely big enough to operate the equipment. In fact, in the beginning, he would have to stand on a stool to reach the machines as he worked alongside his father.

A man who developed a strong work ethic, Jim sometimes even held down more than one job at a time. The truth is, he simply loved to work. He also loved his time away from the shop where he could be found fishing, hunting, camping, or cooking. In later years, he loved spending time with his grandchildren who called Jim – “Poppa” and “Pet Shop”.

Upon relocating to Tulsa, OK, Jim found employment with Production Manufacturing. He would also find true love when he met Teresa Morrow. According to Teresa, she pursued after Jim until he finally gave in. The two would marry on February 24, 2000 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They would enjoy man adventures along the way before settling on their piece of land in Wagoner County. There they loved to have family over and to spoil their many dogs and cats.

Described as a good guy, humble, patient, intelligent, and even a smart aleck, at times, Jim was certainly laid back, but honest and had no trouble vocalizing what he thought or believed. He was tough as he endured multiple battles with illness and he was one who seldom, if ever, complained.

Jim passed from this life on Monday, August 10, 2020 at his home. He was 66.

He is survived by: his loving wife, Teresa Emmerson of the home; his siter, Earline Johnson and her husband, Jimmy; daughter, Misty Haynes; grandchildren: Summer White, Colby Haynes and Caylee Haynes.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; two brothers: Cliff and John Emmerson and a daughter, Summer White.
