James Bischoff Obituary

A memorial service honoring and remembering James Ray Bischoff will be held 2 PM Sunday, April 25, at the St. James United Methodist Church in Tulsa.  Jim passed away Tuesday Morning, April 20th, 2021 at his Bixby residence.  He was 85. 

Born March 4, 1936 in Springfield, Missouri, Jim was the son of Ernest and Stella (Bryant) Bischoff.  Jim attended schools in Neodesha, Kansas. He later enlisted with the United States Air Force where he spent four years in Radar.  He earned his bachelor’s degree in financial accounting from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana. 

Following his college graduation, Jim moved to Tulsa where he pursued a long and successful career with the Public Service Company of Oklahoma, as well as TransOK utility companies.  He retired in 1986 as the Director of Natural Gas Liquids.

Jim enjoyed dabbling in the stock market, going to the horse races, reading, playing golf, bridge, and an occasional hunting trip was always on his calendar. He was a long- time member of St. James United Methodist Church, 5-Year Trustee of the Tulsa Elks Lodge, President of White Hawk Estates neighborhood association, President of the Tulsa Jaycees, and attended the Cotillion Dance Club with his wife. 

Surviving family include his wife, Georgia Bischoff; his children, Matt Bischoff and wife, Arlene, Becky Voorhies, Lisa Wasson and  husband Clint, Patrick Pfeifer and wife Maria, Paula Pfeifer, Amanda Watkins and husband Jacob; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.  Jim was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Harold, Bob and Charles Bischoff.
