Helen Delora Kirkpatrick Wells, age 90, died peacefully on Friday, March 24, 2023, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She passed quickly related to complications from a fall and stroke. She left this Earth peacefully and free of pain.
Helen was born on May 19, 1932 in Colepool, Muskogee County, Oklahoma to Delora and Everett Kirkpatrick as their third child. Helen attended school in Boynton, OK. She enjoyed playing basketball, softball and participating in productions the small town schools system offered. She later would attend college at Bacone College and Northeastern State University. She worked for many years for the Oklahoma Tourism Department before she retired.
Helen is survived by her children: Patricia Delora Brue, Deborah Kay Shumar, Richard Loid Wells, Linda Carol Billey and Andrew Everett Wells; 19 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers: Gene Kirkpatrick and Ed Kirkpatrick, her daughter, Susan Elaine Craycraft, her grandsons: Aaron Billey, Jeremy Spencer; granddaughters: Nicole and Julie Willard; and great granddaughter, MeQuell Merry.
Helen was a truly beautiful person who loved and cherished her family and close friends. She had a true affinity for animals and always shared her home with a variety of cats and dogs. Helen enjoyed playing games - board games, puzzles and dominos, garage sale shopping, tending to plants, bird watching and crossword puzzles. Helen was a master seamstress. She enjoyed crafts and studying her family history and heritage greatly. Helen was an excellent conversationalist and could carry on intriguing conversations with anyone. She had strong convictions and great faith. Helen was a remarkable whistler. She also enjoyed dancing at Cain's ballroom in her younger days. Helen lived a full life and will be greatly missed.
