Glenna Johnson Obituary

Service honoring the life of Glenna Kay Johnson will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, October 19, 2023 in the Rivercrest Chapel, 13329 S. Memorial Drive in Bixby. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 PM Wednesday at Bixby-South Tulsa Funeral Service. Glenna passed away Saturday, October 14, 2023 in Broken Arrow, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was 81 years old.

Born October 10, 1942 in Nowata, Glenna was the daughter of Vernon and Zelma (Middlebusher) Kulchinski. Her parents found work in Tulsa and relocated there when Glenna was only three years old.

While in high school, she worked for the family Drive-In near O'Brien Park as a carhop. Glenna
graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1961. One of Glenna's fondest memories was living in Kitsington, Germany while Leonard served in the U.S. Army. She absolutely loved the cultural diversity she encountered while living on base.

Glenna was a wonderful mother to her two children, Kendel and Kimberly. She would absolutely find a way to get them anything they needed or sometimes just wanted. She worked multiple jobs during the holidays just to ensure they had a wonderful Christmas. She always supported Kendel with his baseball activities and Kimberly with her cheerleading, softball, gymnastics and whatever else she got into. She never said a word about being tired as she went from activity to activity. Sometimes multiple in the same day.

Although "dispatcher" was her title at Tulsair Beechcraft, Glenna worked around the clock to ensure the organization ran smoothly. She was a devoted employee to the company for over 25 years, with many accomplishments such as employee of the year. Glenna met many celebrities through her job flying in people such as Jimmy Connors, Roy Clark, Tom Selak, Charlton Heston, and many others. She loved private plan aviation and all it brought. Kim would get upset with her when she went on test flights with the pilots to check one of the engines. She said it was the only time she got to fly.

Though a wonderful mother, Glenna was known for being an even better grandmother. They called her Meno. She often got into trouble for spoiling them. If mom said no, ask Meno! Worked every time. Those became words to live by. She loved Elvis Presley, was a long time member of Faith Baptist Church in Broken Arrow and kept an immaculate home. You didn't want to leave anything left out or it would be tossed without warning. One of her favorite things to do was go shopping with Kim. This was an every Saturday occurrence whether they needed anything or not.

May Glenna's memory be eternal in the hearts of all who loved her.

Surviving family include her children, Kendel Johnson and Kimberly Patterson and her husband, Pat; her beloved grandchildren: Kenny Johnson, Jacob Patterson, Justin Patterson, and Parker Patterson; one great granddaughter, Mina Johnson; her brother, Jim Kulchinski and his wife, Amie; as well as nieces and nephews.

Glenna was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Edsel Kulchinski and sister, Darlene Wheeler.
