Garry Dean Hayes

November 16, 1958 ~ March 1, 2021 (age 62)

Obituary

A memorial ceremony celebrating the life of Garry Dean Hayes will be held 10 AM Tuesday, March 9 at the Rivercrest Chapel at Bixby Funeral Service. The service will be livestreamed and can be viewed at https://webcast.funeralvue.com/events/viewer/49789.

Born November 16, 1958 in Wichita, Kansas, Garry was the son of Robert and Bonnie (Cattin) Hayes. He attended Bixby schools and during his teenage years, he could be found blazing the streets of Bixby on his motorcycle.

Garry enjoyed a long career in construction and traveled the country while doing so. Wanting a small town in which to raise his daughters, he settled down in Ponca City. It was there that he began working as the President of Asbury Machine Shop. He would later work for the American Foundry Group (AFG) in Bixby and eventually would become the General Manager for the Muskogee division. Garry was dedicated to each of these companies and cherished the lifelong friendships that he made along the way.

If you were looking for Garry on a Saturday, you would find him on the golf course. Golf was a passion. He also enjoyed playing cornhole and grilling out for his friends, neighbors, and family, with his dogs Flo and Stanley right by his side. His larger-than-life personality lit up the room no matter where he was and could be found “jammin” (dancing) at any given moment. But the thing that brought him the most joy were his four beautiful daughters and five grandchildren. Garry was an extraordinarily dedicated father, loyal friend, and an overall good human being.

Garry passed away unexpectedly Monday morning, March 1, 2021 in Muskogee at the age of 62.

Surviving family members include his daughters, Hannah and Sarah Hayes both of Ponca City, Bonnie Hayes of Tulsa, and Madison Hayes of Bixby; his five grandchildren: Loudyn, Letti, William, Jet, and Ada; his brothers, Bill Hayes of Sand Springs and Alan Guest as well as his niece, Lori Garrett.

Garry was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Barbara Jo Garrett.
