Franklin Jinks Obituary

Franklin W. Jinks passed away Sunday, June 6th, 2021. He was 88. A graveside service will be 10:00 am Thursday, June 10 at Welch Cemetery, Welch, Oklahoma.

Born February 20, 1933, in rural Craig county, Franklin “Frank” was the 5th child of Ernest Ray Jinks and Ladena (Bowman) Jinks. A 1952 graduate of Welch High School, Frank enlisted in the army after high school. While serving his country during the Korean War, he married his childhood sweetheart Wannah Lee Warden. They were married July 30th, 1953. They welcomed their first child Rebecca in 1955. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Frank went to college on the GI bill. In 1960 he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture Education from Oklahoma State University. He was the first in his family to graduate college.

After college, Frank and Wannah moved to Iowa where he would be an agriculture and industrial tech teacher for the Dexfield Public Schools. It was there that they welcomed their youngest child, Robyn in the fall of 1960. Although he loved teaching, he decided to become employed as a salesman for agricultural companies and that took him from Iowa to Fremont,Nebraska and eventually back to Broken Arrow and Enid, Oklahoma. In 1994, Frank and Wannah moved to Grove, Oklahoma to live on Grand Lake. He retired in 1995.

Those who knew Frank knew how much he enjoyed a perfectly manicured lawn, keeping beautiful flowers around the yard for his wife, and putting up Christmas lights. Frank was a hard-working man that kept himself busy constantly. Whether working outside, running the vacuum at early hours inside, or frying up the perfect fried chicken, he was happiest when he was making and doing.

In 2019, Frank and Wannah moved to Bixby to be closer to family. Frank continued to work around the house, and in his beloved yard. He will certainly be missed by those who knew and loved him.

Frank is survived by: his loving wife of almost 68 years, Wannah Lee Jinks; his children: daughter, Rebecca Stanley and husband, Ben of Bixby and Robyn Victor and husband, Brad of Bennington, Nebraska, his grandchildren: Rachel Hough and husband, Brandon of Bartlesville, Todd Victor and wife, Sarah of Tabor, Iowa, Laura Victor and husband, Nick Smith of Omaha, Nebraska, and Robert Hanna of Broken Arrow, his great-grandchildren: Emalee Hough, Annaleah Hough, Brynley Victor, Bodun Victor, and Miles Victor-Smith. He is also survived by his two brothers: Ray Jinks, Eugene Jinks, and sister, Maxine Shope. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Franklin Lynn, 1 brother and 1 sister.
