Frank Spring, Jr. was born June 1, 1938, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Frank Spring, Sr. and Walsie (Manes) Spring. He was raised near Preston, Oklahoma, where he attended and graduated high school.
Upon graduation, Frank joined the Army National Guard, where he served as a tank commander. Later joining the regular Air Force, he was stationed in Michigan, where he met and married a young lady, Audrey Joann Baril. The wedding ceremony took place on April 27, 1963, in Sault Saint Marie, Michigan.
Throughout his service, Frank saw much of the world, spending time in Korea, Georgia, Virginia, Colorado, Germany, Texas, and North Dakota. He retired as Chief Master Sergeant after a 24-year career. Upon his retirement, the Spring family moved to and made their home in Bixby, where Frank found employment with the City of Tulsa.
A busy man in retirement, Frank was a member of the Akdar Shriners of Tulsa, the Glenpool VFW, the Bixby Optimist Club - where he served as President, and he also served as Worshipful Master of the Bixby Masonic Lodge. He and Audrey were also heavily involved with the Eastern Star. In addition, Frank joined the Tulsa Police Reserve Program and was later asked by the Bixby Police Department to begin the Bixby Police Reserve Program. Frank did just that and ran the program for the next ten years.
Lifelong churchgoers, Frank and Audrey, were once members of the Bixby First Baptist Church, New Beginnings, and later, the First United Methodist Church of Bixby.
Frank passed away on April 12, 2020. He was 81.
Those he leaves to cherish his memory include wife, Audrey Spring; children: daughter, Rhonda Davis; son, Michael Spring; daughter, Susan Spring and son, Joseph Spring; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Also, surviving are siblings: John Spring and wife, Dorothy; David Spring and wife, Linda; Barbara Shiermann/Schiermann and Donald Spring.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Larry Spring and wife, Jane; Houston Spring and wife, Melinda.
Due to the current climate a date and time to celebrate Frank's life has yet to be determined, but will be announced once available.
