Born 8/4/1930 in San Angelo, Texas at St. John Hospital, Frances was the daughter of Velma Bullock James and Melvin Earl James. She grew up in San Angelo, graduating from San Angelo High School with the Class of 1948.
At the age of 12, Frances began working at the Model Laundry, followed by employment with the Gambil's 5 and 10 store and the Mercury Dealership. She was also employed by the LB White Company and Western Auto Store, as well as Bailey Auto in San Angelo and the Morgan Dodge Dealership in Wichita Falls. Frances retired from Jim Bass Ford as the office manager in 1996 after 40 years of service. She would continue to work part time with Jim Bass Inc. in bookkeeping into her 90's.
Frances served as volunteer for Meals for Elderly, delivering meals and assisting with office duties there from 2010 through 2018. She was a member of First Christian Church of San Angelo since 1974. Frances also attended Victory Church - Tulsa.
Surviving family members include her son, Terry and his wife, Kit of Tulsa; son, Tom Hines of Dallas, grandchildren: Terry Hines Jr, Aaron Hines, and Rachel Hines of Tulsa; her great granddaughter, Annie Hines of Tulsa; and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.
Frances was preceded in death by Velma Bullock James (Mother) and Melvin Earl James (Father), Melvin Jesse James (Brother), Forest Hines (Former spouse) and John South (Former spouse).
In lieu of flowers, family has requested donations made in honor to First Christian Church of San Angelo or Meals for the elderly in San Angelo, TX or Life Senior Services of Tulsa, OK
The family would like to thank the staff of Cimmaron Pointe Care Center of Mannford, Oklahoma and Cura-HPC Hospice and Palliative Care of Tulsa for their care of Granny during her last days.
Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 8th at 1st Christian Church San Angelo, TX at 2 pm.
