Born February 16, 1930, in Tulsa, Faye was the daughter of Felix Amos and Ola Mae (Stegall) Hallum. Faye went to be with her Savior on Sunday, November 7th, 2021, at the age of 91.
Raised in her birth community, Faye attended Webster High School where she was on the cheer squad and would graduate with the Class of 1947.
As a youth, Faye met a handsome, young serviceman. She and Norman Nelson first met at the West Tulsa Church of the Nazarene and would marry quickly after Faye finished high school. Their wedding occurred on November 27, 1947, and the two enjoyed nearly sixty wonderful years together before Norman’s passing in 2006.
As a career, Faye was employed by First National Bank of Tulsa where she served as an administrative assistant. She would retire from this endeavor following many years of service. At home, Faye certainly had her hands full raising two ornery boys: Jack and David. Both boys have many wonderful memories of their mother, and they still claim she had eyes in the back of her head! It is certainly nice to know that you are loved. There was never any doubt that these boys were loved by both of their parents, but there was something unique and assuring when Faye or Mama, as they affectionately called her, was around.
To Faye, Family was her hobby. She certainly loved her sons; however, she likely enjoyed being called “Granny” by her grandchildren and “GG” by her great-grands even more! Granny, or GG, was sure to have a wonderful time playing games, hosting family get-togethers, including Sunday dinners in her home, or spoiling her grands with sleepovers and pancakes.
Described as loving, faithful, devoted, and a prayer warrior, Faye was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and most of all a devout Christian. She was heavily involved in the various churches she belonged to through the years and it was very important to her that she share that devotion and Faith with her family.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her loving husband, Norman; and her five siblings.
She is survived by: her sons: Jack Nelson and wife, Mary; David Nelson and wife, Sandra; grandchildren: Jason Nelson and wife, Lori; Kenneth Nelson and wife, Cecelia; Jennifer Aycock; Becky Drouillard and husband, Kevin; Andrew Nelson and wife, Sarah; Debra Johnson and husband, Kenneth, and Rachel Nelson; great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Grace, Kellon, Claire, Jack, Eloise Faye, Sam, Atticus, Evelyn, Danny, and Major (who came into this world just this Monday). She is also survived by numerous other family members and friends.
