Faye Gibson Obituary

Faye (Evans) Gibson was born February 18, 1926, in Tuskogee, Oklahoma to Joe and Rosa (Cochran) Evans. Faye’s family moved to Bixby from Bristow when she was sixteen years old. She met and married Ralph Gibson in September 1942.

She worked at Lowrance Electronics for twenty years, retiring as a supervisor in 1988. Upon retirement, she became a fan of tennis and golf and enjoyed watching the tournaments on television.

Faye was an avid sports fan. She loved attending all sporting events her children and grandchildren were playing, and rarely missed a game. Before she even owned a television, she would listen to the Yankee baseball games on the radio.

She also a devoted reader. However, the last several years she had to switch from books to audio, due to her loss of eyesight.

Faye was an excellent cook and she loved cooking for her family, friends and church. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, Leonard. She thoroughly enjoyed attending church and being able to help by serving at church luncheons and preparing funeral dinners for the families that had lost loved ones.

An independent and strong woman, Faye lived alone for 54 years. Even after losing most of her eyesight, she continued cooking and cleaning for herself until six months ago when David and Marchetia moved in to help care for her.

Faye departed this life on Sunday, August 15, 2021, at her home in Bixby. She was 95.

She is survived by her three children: David Gibson and wife, Marchetia, Joe Gibson and wife, Donna, and Hazel (Gibson) Donelson and husband, Joe, all of Bixby; sister, Alice Jones of Broken Arrow; ten grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren; thirty great-great grandchildren; and one great-great-great grandchild. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Rosa Evans; grandson, Jacob Adam Gibson; brother and three sisters.
