Duane Eric Terrell

A funeral ceremony honoring Duane Eric Terrell will be held 10 AM Thursday, November 2, 2023 in the Rivercrest Chapel, 13329 S. Memorial Drive in Bixby. Interment will follow in the Bixby Cemetery. Pastor Chase Sanders will be officiating. The family will receive visitors from 5-7 PM Wednesday at Bixby-South Tulsa Funeral Service.

Duane passed away in Tulsa October 30, 2023 at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa. He was 60 years old.

Born November 23, 1962, also in Tulsa, Duane was the third of four children to John and Inez (Killion) Terrell. Athletic from an early age, Duane graduated from Jenks High School. He was a football player, as well as a wrestler for the Trojans.

Following high school, Duane studied information technology at night school while working full-time on the pipeline. Duane was employed by Explorer for several years. He would eventually transition into the telecommunications industry as a network engineer for MCI and Lumen Technologies.

Recreationally, Duane enjoyed traveling around the country - racing RC boats. He also loved sailing, fishing, and just spending as much time as possible outdoors. Duane was a huge NASCAR fan. Mark Martin remained his favorite driver through the years. A wonderful father, Duane was very involved in his son's activities which included baseball, soccer, and martial arts.

Surviving family include his wife, Shanell; his sons, Brett and Andrew, Brett's wife, Amber; sister, Shirley and brother-in-law, Larry Buxton, sister, Donna and brother-in-law, David Bales; and his grandchildren, Gatlyn and Karsyn.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents; and older brother, John Stephen Terrell.
