Don Barth Schlafke

Born April 22, 1934 in Green Bay, WI, son of Donald A. and Valeria T. Schlafke. Died May 9, 2021. Leaving: daughters, Anne S. May, MD of Raleigh, NC, Kari S. Arcide of Tulsa; grandchildren, Jeff and Juliet May; sister, Sandra Enders of Davis, CA; stepchildren, Carla Brooks of Virginia Beach and Bryan Brooks of Austin, TX.


Don served in the U.S. Air Force obtaining the rank of Captain. He was a physicist employed by EG&G for 30 years in a career encompassing instrument design and manufacturing for many industries including oil and gas. Mentoring teenagers was the focus of his life. His service began with Boy Scouts and later, concurrently, an all girl Explorer Post with his daughters. Following a corporate transfer to Tulsa in 1984, he was active with Young Life, a Christian outreach to at-risk teenagers, for over 25 years.


A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 2nd, 10 a.m. at Asbury Methodist Mason Chapel, Tulsa. No flowers please; donations to Young Life are encouraged.
