On a beautiful autumn morning, the sun shone through the window as Diane DeLaney Doughty ended her earthly journey on Friday, October 20th, 2023. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Loren and Jeannine Delaney. Diane is survived by her husband Jim, daughter Adrienne Sprague and son Steven Delaney, their respective spouses J D Sprague and Katie Doughty, her grandson Whitaker Sprague, her sister Debbie Delaney Cunningham and husband Jim, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Diane led a rich, faith filled life, beginning on July 24th, 1956 in Olney, Illinois. Shortly thereafter, she moved to Wichita Falls, Texas, growing up active in her church and Summer Youth Musicals. After graduating from Texas Christian University, she met and fell in love with Jim. They married on January 23rd, 1982.
Diane was lovingly devoted to her family, her faith, and her place of worship, Faith United Methodist Church, where she served many years as Childrens Director. While at Faith, Diane was responsible for creating many ministries such as Prayer Bears, Special Angels, and Safe Sanctuary.
Diane is now in silent, unseen passage with loved ones who ended their journey before her. The children whose faith she nurtured are now young adults who will be forever touched by her loving, servant heart.
Diane's family would like to thank the many women, known as Diane's Army, who lovingly supported her through her struggle with Parkinson's Disease. The family would also like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Transitions LifeCare who provided compassionate hospice care to Diane and her loved ones.
A celebration of Diane's life will be held at 11:00 AM on October 28th at Faith United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family hopes you consider a donation to the Parkinson Foundation of Oklahoma or Faith United Methodist Church Childrens Program.
