Services honoring the life of Dennis J. Pekarcik will be held at 10 AM Thursday, July 9, 2020, at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 PM Wednesday at the residence of Dr. Barry Hoffman, 3122 N. Country Club Road in Muskogee. Dennis passed away Monday, July 6, 2020, at his home in Muskogee. He was 75 years old.
Born January 2nd, 1945, in Lakewood, Ohio, Dennis was the beloved son of John and Helen (Iwaniec) Pekarcik. He played baseball during his younger years and graduated from Lakewood High School. Dennis served his country honorably with the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict. He was awarded two purple hearts for his military service.
Following his military career, Dennis became a pilot and eventually a flying instructor. One time he even served as the personal pilot for Jack Benny. Professionally, Dennis successfully operated a seafood transportation service based in Cape Cod, MA. He loved racing sailboats while living on the east coast. Dennis met Kathy Rouse, and the couple married May 10, 2013. They spent seven wonderful years together.
Most recently, Dennis was employed by the Jack Montgomery VA Medical Center in Muskogee as a dental lab technician. His professional skills in the lab were praised by his colleagues and dental professionals in the department. Dennis was quite handy around the house, always at work on various home improvement projects. He loved traveling, both within the United States and abroad, particularly his trips to the Caribbean. An accomplished magician, Dennis’s magic tricks will not soon be forgotten by a host of friends and family who loved him.
Surviving family members include his wife, Kathy; his brother, Phillip Pekarcik and wife, Diane of Ohio; his sister, Louise McCormick of Canada; his children, Lisa Anne, Jay, and David Pekarcik of Massachusetts; his stepchildren, Kimberly Meadors of Muskogee, and Brad Rouse of Tulsa; and his grandchildren: Tyler Meadors and Hunter Rouse, both of Muskogee.
