Deanna Dawn Christ of Bixby, Oklahoma, passed away surrounded by loved ones on July 26, 2020, at the age of 72. She was born on July 25, 1948, in Minot, ND, to Jerry and Eleanor Roth.
Deanna spent her younger years in Drake, ND. After living in multiple states throughout the US, she ended up in North Dakota to be close to her mother and father in Bismarck. She was working full time, attending college, and raising three rambunctious children. Little did she know, moving to Bismarck would change her life forever as she met the love of her life, John Christ. They eventually moved to Bozeman, Montana, and became husband and wife on June 13, 1980. When John and Deanna got married, John assumed the fatherly responsibilities of her children Nomi, Ramie, and Sonny. John and Deanna were blessed in 1982 with their first son Seth in 1983 with their second son Jason and 1986 with their youngest son Dustin.
The family moved to Roswell, NM in 1983 and started a successful solar company. John and Deanna were dedicated to hard work and discipline, leading to their rapid success. One of the rewards of their accomplishments was to be recognized at the Solar Office of the Year, becoming the top producing solar market in the United States. They sold that business in 1985 and moved to the Tulsa, OK. They continued their entrepreneurial drive over the next 37 years. As the economic conditions changed, they quickly reinvented themselves and their companies. After many years of dedication and hard work, she decided to retire a year ago to spend time with her friends and family.
Deanna’s theme for any gathering was “Everybody Eats When They Come to My House” (song by Cab Calloway). Family friends and fellow church members frequently gathered for good times like the legendary Harvest Moon Parties. Events like these offered great food, starting with prayer, fellowship, singing, and good times. At these events, Deanna was an excellent host making sure no one left hungry.
Deanna was deeply cherished and loved by her friends, family, and community. She had a fiery presence and a warm, loving heart. Deanna lit up the room with laughter from her stories, singing, and sometimes even dancing. She was a dedicated woman who had an undeniable passion for hard work, church, and family. Deanna loved hosting holidays, cooking, and spending time with the people. Deanna put her heart into everything she did. She was a dear friend and uplifting mentor who demanded perfection, pushed for greatness, and jubilantly celebrated success.
