Born February 14, 1956 at the Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, Danny was the son of Earl and Jeraldine (Banks) Reames. At an early age, Danny moved to Kellyville where they had deep family ties. He grew up playing baseball and riding motorcycles, followed by a fascination with his classic trucks and muscle cars. His parents worked many hours so he spent a lot of time with his Aunt Molly, who was a positive influence on him throughout his childhood. Danny graduated from Kellyville High School with the Class of 1974.
Following high school, Danny worked for a denture manufacturing company near Kellyville. He also worked for Telex until they experienced a series of layoffs. Danny immediately returned to technical school and became a master of AutoCAD. He would eventually become a design engineer with Zephyr Southwest, which eventually became Osiyo Metals. Danny was proud of his many projects there including the cross at Asbury United Methodist Church, the stair rails in the Warren Theatre, as well as numerous Indian healthcare and gaming projects in the area.
Danny met Juanita Kessel at a disco dance in Tulsa near the Camelot Hotel. They both initially lied to each other about their ages (Juanita 35 and Danny 28) however, they still ended up only 5 years apart! Juanita immediately began riding on the back of his motorcycle, rain or shine! The couple married on November 6, 1981 in Tulsa and spend almost 40 wonderful years together. They took many RV trips through the years, mostly while visiting Juanita’s family near the Badlands in North Dakota.
Quiet and humble are words that would best describe Danny’s personality. He was known to have a “one liner” for everything. Some of his “one line” expressions might include:
“Go Out and Look at the Christman lights during the day to beat the crowd” or
“I do not recommend surgery for a weight loss program” and Danny often led his children to believe,
“The Cows in Arkansas had shorter legs on one side so they could walk on the hillsides!”
Danny was quite the photographer, taking countless pictures of his children and grandchildren. Pictures of Danny though are rather sparse. This was because he always preferred to be behind the camera! May his memory be eternal amongst a host of family and friends who loved him.
Surviving family members include his wife, Juanita; his children, Wendy Potter and husband, Danny, Jennifer Borutski, Ryan Reames and wife, Holly; eight grandchildren: Travis Dever, Desiree Potter, Kristen Dever, Derek Potter, Shayne Barnett, Noah Barnett, Suzannah Borutski, and Miller Reames; his great- granddaughter, Ava Dever; numerous nieces and nephews on Juanita’s side and his sister, Susan Bilby and her husband, Curtis; niece, Gennie Griffin and husband, Will and nephew, Dr. Chris Bilby and Dr. Beka. Danny was preceded in death by both of his parents in 2015.
