A graveside ceremony honoring and remembering Connie Jo Espolt will be held 11 AM Tuesday, October 3 at the Floral Haven Memorial Gardens cemetery in Broken Arrow. Connie passed away Tuesday evening, September 26, 2023 at Clarehouse in Tulsa. She was 79 years old.
Born June 19, 1944 in Florida, Connie was the daughter of Archie and Josephine (Clark) Espolt. Connie married Bobby Sons and they had a daughter named Echo.
Connie was a lover of horses from an early age. Her favorite horse was named Tequila. When Connie whistled, Tequila would come running just like a scene from a movie.
A beautiful woman, Connie was a model in the 1960's. She once appeared on a full page spread in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper.
Connie also completed cosmetology school and made that her lifelong profession, beginning with owning and operating her own salon in Kingfisher called "The Zodiac". In the early 70's she moved to Tulsa and continued her cosmetology career establishing many lifelong friendships with her clientele there.
Her desire for higher learning led her to the University of Tulsa where Connie studied Psychology and English, earning degrees in both academics. She was known to have edited a couple of books prior to their printing.
A lifelong artist as well, Connie painted many beautiful paintings, watercolors, and pencil artwork for her family and friends. She also loved plants, caring for them as if they were her own children.
Connie loved animals and rescued some unusual critters like baby skunks and a bat named Bob and many birds and dogs over the years.
Connie was the family's spiritual leader and a prayer warrior for our family and anyone in need.
Connie was preceded in death by her daughter, Echo, and Echo's father, Bobby Sons.
Connie is survived by her sister, Kay Espolt Barrett of California, and her brother, Steve Espolt of Kingfisher; four grandchildren (children of Echo and Willi Kopp),Kelly Kopp, Rachael Kopp, Israel Kopp and Bethany Kopp; numerous nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
